The BAD: Connectivity issues out the wazoo. Cosmetics are not great and are too abundant, often feeling "unearned". Obvious cheaters and aimbot's which is insane considering it claims MCC uses anti-cheats on launching. It is the opposite of optimized. It is BONKERS how much space this game takes up for what it is. Each of these games fit nearly entirely on a single disc. The sound for each game except Reach and 4 feel-compressed weird? Even when I turn the score way down and my system all the way up I can often barely hear the dialogue over the ambiance and music, I swapped between audio devices, nothing helped. The original games aren't like this, I have my original and 360 set up and they don't have this problem. It could just be my PC doing something I suppose but I don't know why Reach would be fine but CE and 2 have problems.
The Nostalgia: I love Halo, I'm a big fan of the series. Sadly though this version has almost NONE of the special content that made the Halo collectors editions special. I'd hate for all those cool behind the scenes and extra features to get lost to time. (Halo 2-"Another Day at the Beach) etc. Look it up, treat yourself to the secret intimacy of the world.
The Good: Halo stands as a testament to an era of FPS often forgotten about with how fast past modern shooters can be. Each of the games plays slightly unique from the others while the basic premise and systems remains the same, even the controls vary between games. The story and environmental work is exceptional. I think it truly stands alone in terms of experience. I laugh, I cried, I fought until I didn't want to anymore. It's a GREAT series. Start to finish, some of the best gaming you can have. COOP is prime. Voice Acting, GOATED. Level Design: Prepare to get lost in the sauce. Just look up the cast list for Halo 3, it's so top tier.
Final 2 cents: If you've played Halo before and you're looking to return to the Multiplayer experience from 360 days, you're probably going to have a bad time. People are angry in the lobbies, which was throwback to a degree, but there was rampant ignorance, horrible connectivity, Team Killing, and teabagging galore. Looked like the Boston Tea Party there was so much teabag action. Probably 5ish times I asked about a custom games lobby or if anyone does Duck Hunt or things like that, and every time I got some variation of "Go **** yourself" or "SYBAU AIN'T NOBODY ASK YOU." I remember Halo being a mess sometimes, but the community wasn't this mean. YOU CAN SEARCH FOR CUSTOM GAMES THOUGH SO THAT'S COOL. 6.5/10 for MP
9/10 for Campaign (could be a little more polished in certain areas all things considered, especially 2).
Easily worth $40-50, just be ready to make 150+ gigs space for it.
SPOILER SUMMARY OF SERIES: Armored Green man and AI Mommy punish a conglomerate of alien races and zombie parasites for being mean until big alien man changes sides, then he and his friends help Armored Green man and AI Mommy punish alien conglomeration together, and then they stop zombie parasites with the power of friendship.
