Halo: Campaign Evolved

Incredible starting point for Halo newcomers. Master Chief is still the coolest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around.

I honestly wanted to like this. I added mods to change a few things I didn't like but...this just isn't that great. It looks great, but I've replayed the original several times...yet this is somehow a slog to try to get through. Not the worst game, but hard to recommend personally. Maybe discounted but at $50, I don't think this is quite worth it.

As someone who played the original game on Xbox as a child for christmas and subsequently all the games that ever released (except non-fps game) I can say that this remake is a great hommage to the original game & the franchise. It felt authentic and I had a big smile on my face the entire time. Great work and hopefully looking forward to more Halo games from this developer.

19.4 hours and 58/58 achievements later. Would I recommend Halo: Campaign Evolved? Yeah. Would I recommend it at full price? Absolutely not lol. I had a good time with it and it was genuinely cool seeing the original Halo campaign with updated graphics. There are plenty of moments where I stopped just to look around and compare everything in my head to what I remembered from the original. But that's also kind of the problem. This doesn't really feel like a brand new full priced Halo game to me. It feels more like a really nice HD remake/update that could've easily been DLC or something added onto the Master Chief Collection. The campaign is still fun because... well, it's Halo. The updated visuals look great, everything feels cleaner and it's nice getting to experience those old areas again with a modern coat of paint. But underneath all of that, you're still playing a game many of us have already played before. And I don't think nicer graphics alone justify asking full price for it. I ended up doing everything and getting all 58 achievements, so I definitely got my time out of it. I enjoyed going through the campaign again and I'm glad I played it. I just wouldn't tell somebody to rush out and pay full price. Wait for a sale. If you're a Halo fan and want another excuse to go back through the original campaign with much better visuals, you'll probably have a good time. Just go into it knowing you're basically paying to revisit something familiar rather than getting a completely new Halo experience. 58/58 achievements. Still love Halo. Just not enough to pay full price for the same fight again. Recommended on sale.
