Right so coop you can't quit and resume at the same point you left off...which means you need to either play the whole game again...in one sitting...or dunno...what the hell? Thought it was a pretty good remake until this...sorry but NOT A GOOD GAME! AVOID!
The games buggy af, the bonus missions are wayyyy too long especially with Johnson shooting the back of my skull everynow and then. The bonus missions is just a 45 min long misssions with nothing but reused assets. But still a fun game nonetheless. I hear a lot of complaints about the female odst but lets be fr the books and the fall of reach movie/book show just how much the odst and spartans dont get along. The way johnson and chief interact in bonus missions and how they interact in the main campaign contrast like crazy. They shouldve kept it like how they interacted back in original if they were gonna put a prequel. The gravity feels wack and driving feels wack. And last but not least the sprint, the sprint is an interesting addition to the game and im not completely against it but it very much does break the game. Like playing in legendary its way too easy to just skip most the mission just running past the enemies. I honestly would rather just play mcc. You can never go wrong with the original, voice acting us just better in the original i.e. johnson and captain keyes.
Preface: Go get Halo: Master Chief Collection and play this campaign there if you're thinking of buying this. Do not buy this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The only thing it has is nostalgia. The engine sucks. The game is horribly desynced online. Enemies literally just disappear and rubber band around. The consistency of enemy health and their damage doesn't seem to be there. Like, why does a flood brute take 3 rockets to kill but they also take 8 shotgun shells to the face and 3 rockets to kill? In a lot of cases, when fighting the flood especially, shotgun shots go straight through them doing nothing. The sentinels are obviously bugged doing way more damage than intended without even showing them shooting a beam at you. Idk how many times sentinels were looking away from me and I'd come out of cover to immediately start taking damage like they're shooting a laser at me. I mean, one time I had just applied an over shield, came out of cover by jumping and was dead before I hit the ground. The Warthogs float and slide across the ground much more than they ever have. The inputs have delay when driving the warthog. Idk if it's the newer graphic engines devs are using but games just feel like clunky ♥♥♥♥ nowadays. A lot of times I don't have a frame of reference to compare it to so It's harder to notice, but I played the original 3 Halo games many times, none of them felt like this. I don't think they bothered testing this for playability on Legendary, and I firmly believe if you just go play the original Halo CE you'll enjoy it more than this, if you can get past the graphics, I swear the older games are worth it. I've played plenty of wonky unfinished games and very seldom do they try to charge $50 for them, and I get way more playtime so it's fine. This is like 8 hours of mediocre gameplay for $50.... You'll have more fun playing any of the original 3 Halo campaigns, so like 90% of the world, they're making slop to fleece people. Capitalism is ruining everything. 3/10

https://store.steampowered.com/app/976730/Halo_The_Master_Chief_Collection/
Buggy, crashes disconnects
Not even my best friend who I met on halo 3 and best man at my wedding had the drive to finish ♥♥♥♥ game. It isn't because we have seen this game a hundred times already but the obvious wokness and sloppy job of it all. Other people do an amazing job at explaining why it sucks.
The game is ok, its nowhere near as good as it could have been if the rights were given to a competent developer studio. Some enemies do not have a melee attack animation and you just magically get hit at random distances by it, this is a massive issue if you are playing LASO and it causes you to restart the whole mission. Needing to reset key binds EVERY SINGLE TIME you start the game... there is no reason that this should have ever been an issue. Battle rifle and magnums feel extremely inaccurate so its extremely difficult to knock jackle shields with precision weapons. Bonus missions were kind of trash but some of the new enemy designs and armours are really nice. chief doesn't feel like chief, idk who the ♥♥♥♥ Sgt Johnson is in this because it isn't the same guy from the rest of the franchise, he went from a cool guy to someone trying to act cool and it comes of as cringe. Not sure who was doing the writing for Lieutenant Williams but it downright diabolical, they should genuinely think about replacing them. If Halo studios was trying to make her seem like some badass character then they shouldn't be having her tell us that is she a badass like the SPARTAN's, they should just show that she is a badass through actions feats or in the cinematics, don't just have her self identify as one. Her hate of the chief doesn't come across as real or genuine and instead some teenage girl drama due to the writing. An ODST disliking a SPARTAN is absolutely fine... but make it realistic. Cortana... What have they done to you. She is downright awful to listen to but maybe this is because I am a long time halo fan and know what she is meant to be. She comes across as a condescending ass majority of the time and she is really unlikable. Her redesign just isn't it. The bonus missions also seem to have several missions with bugs that require an entire mission restart if you are unlucky enough to get a checkpoint, normally caused by a door closing and locking or Johnson teleporting you past a trigger. Halo studies NEEDS to do better, this franchise was a juggernaut and they have truly squandered their chance with it. At this point I think Microsoft should cut their losses and give the rights to another studio as 343/Halo studies has proven that they still cant deliver. EDIT: I forgot to mention the addition to things that didn't exist in the timeline in the prequals because "its more iconic" was a terrible ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea. Why the hell would they give Chief Mark VI armour and ruin the timeline for such a stupid reason? These are the people making Halo games currently. Music in the bonus missions... feel out of place, it feels like they just added music from the original game at certain points to just have people say "hey this is the music from X mission" even though it doesnt fit the current situation. Cutscenes look really nice but many feel weird. One good example is the cutscene at the end of the mission "The Truth and Reconciliation". Chief is surrounded but instead of them shooting him... they just walk slowly towards him. chief is also portrayed as if he is a slow tank instead of a extremely agile super soldier. Any melee in cutscenes are unbelievably slow (343/Halo studies has a track record with extremely poor fight choreography, greatest example is the Halo 5 fight between Master Chief and Locke where its less of a fight between 2 genetically enhanced super soldiers and more like an amateur WWE fight where they take turns letting each other be hit in a pathetic manner, they seriously need to drop who ever is responsible for the poor action choreography).
Another Halo 100% Completed. Even though I enjoyed a lot of the game I can't praise them for remaking a game that already had all it's core elements mapped out like story, weapons, enemies etc. They did a great job in remaking Halo CE, and I loved that they allowed players to use things that you couldn't in the original like using the wraith and energy sword. Implementing new weapons from other Halo games and a load of new and interesting skulls made for a refreshing experience. I also have to commend them for reworking the infamous Library level. They knew it was a slug fest and very repetitive and wouldn't hold up in a modern game. The change to the level while also keeping the integral parts of the mission intact was very good. My gripe with the game is mostly the price, new missions and some glitches that were not present in the original. - Firstly, price. Asking for $90 AUD is crazy when all it is is a campaign game. If you're gonna ask for $90 you better do more than remake a story that's already been told, add 3 new missions with a new unique story and some skulls/modifiers/gameplay features. - Secondly, the new missions are boring and uninteresting. A lot of the rooms and parts of the missions feel so similar. The gameplay loop was exactly the same. Run to room, shoot enemies, run to next room, shoot enemies. At least at the end they put together a space fighting segment. Too many times enemies spawn behind closed doors and won't move with the enemy randomizer skull, Johnson taking ages to press buttons for us. It was just not very interesting. People were way to harsh on Williams but man, the ending where Williams is sitting on a pile of brutes with her squad was so hilariously cringe and hard to watch. It just feels like it was written by a millennial that snuck into the office. Thirdly, glitches. It was pretty depressing to see some of the prominent glitches be removed like bridge fall on Control Room and door skip on Silent Cartographer but there's some new glitches like if you die right after getting off any elevator the checkpoint you got on the elevator doesn't work. Twice me and my friends had to restart our LASO run on 343 Guilty Spark and Control Room because it would spawn 2 people dead outside the map. It's almost like the game can't handle restarting 3 people onto a moving elevator. We've had people spawn inside walls (at least they didnt die and restart us), random disconnects and crashes. Too many times we had to restart our runs. and my favourite glitch that I just want to document... Me and my friend were running remix and we completed Pillar of Autumn. Then when the next mission Halo booted up we were both stuck in a void. Complete darkness. We could barely move like we were stuck inside a box and in the distance we could see 2 covenant portable shields, a door that you would see on the Pillar of Autumn and 2 sentinels flying pass us. Probably the most odd experience I've had in Halo and we had to double check "What the hell, what mission are we on, what did it try to load?" and we were on mission Halo. One restart and we were back on track. These glitches I like. It annoys me because I know Halo Studios can create a good campaign experience but the bonus missions don't have me in high hopes. At this rate I'd prefer remakes of older Halos (apparently it's confirmed Halo 2 and 3 are in development). As it currently stands, my favourite Halo campaign experince from 343/Halo Studios would have to be Infinite even though I'd likely not play it a second time but it wasn't the worse experince. The missions were quite unique and different from one another. At least better than these bonus missions.
Everything you heard is true, the dialog sucks, the pacing is horrid, the "new" elements are not that extra. Buy it when its on sale, its not worth the full price, its hardly going to be worth a sale price. Save your money and play CE Anniversary on Master Chief Collection. Absolutely insane how hard Microsoft fumbled Halo yet again.
Extremely fun with friends to run through, be goofy, and shoot things. •Woke feminist and misandrist propaganda narratives, mechanics, cinematics, and gameplay forcibly inserted into a franchise it never belonged in. •Forced political narratives in a universe where they don't belong. •Disgustingly ugly Jerma/Craig mongoloid instead of Cortana (I've seen better renditions of ladies in Bloodborne). Seeing a man's face with a woman's voice will never not be jarring and bizarre. •Poison dart frogs with full DEI in charge of the game (layoffs/fired = same thing, they're out of a job-you can manipulate language all you want, they're still fired). •Fired the entire staff after the game published. •Terribly delayed pauses for dialogue that feel unnatural •Physics engine that isn't consistent (i.e. weapon projectiles clip the edge of the inner doorway but grunts will Fuel Rod cannons can snipe you effectively from the same angle with their munitions no-clipping the same geometry). •Grenades no-clip through engines from ground and second floor. You MUST be on the top floor or equivalent proximity to achieve the objective. So that is a crap mechanic when I toss a grenade only to watch it no-clip through the entire center level's geometry to land on the ground past the engines. •Alleged military officers publicly showing disparaging behaviors and character in front of the enlisted is also against most military regulations as it is an overt breakdown of good order and discipline. •Vehicles feel like bumper cars, warthog chaingun feels like an airsoft platform with the same rpm. •Huge MMO style icons denoting cloaked enemies effectively do not make them cloaked. Players do not suffer from object permanence and this insults your intelligence. •Film grain video is for the Backrooms, not Halo. •Film grain with chromatic aberration is even worse no matter the quality adjustments. Not worth it unless on deep sale.
