Broken game, i've only played it for the achievements but guess what?! even the achievements are broken...
Давно хотел взять, а тут скидка - советую.
Not bad actually
Bem estranho, jogabilidade horrivel.
Halloween Pumpkin Story is a seasonal-themed indie platformer that leans heavily into spooky atmosphere and old-school challenge, offering a straightforward but occasionally demanding experience built around timing, traps, and persistence. Developed by Dnovel and published by SA Industry, the game places players in control of an animated pumpkin navigating a hostile Halloween world filled with ghosts, hazards, and puzzle-like obstacles. Rather than focusing on narrative depth or character development, the game prioritizes mood and mechanical difficulty, aiming to capture the spirit of classic arcade platformers wrapped in a festive, macabre aesthetic. The structure of the game is rooted in traditional 2D side-scrolling design. Levels are short but densely packed with danger, requiring careful movement, precise jumps, and repeated attempts to master their layouts. Early stages function as a tutorial of sorts, introducing movement and basic hazards, but the learning curve ramps up quickly. Traps become more complex, enemy placement more punishing, and safe margins narrower, pushing the player to rely on memorization and pattern recognition rather than improvisation. This design philosophy gives the game a distinctly “hardcore” feel, where progress is earned through trial and error rather than gradual empowerment. What distinguishes Halloween Pumpkin Story from many similar indie platformers is its commitment to atmosphere. Visuals embrace a dark Halloween palette, using shadows, glowing effects, and eerie backdrops to create a consistent sense of unease. Environments feel deliberately hostile, with spikes, moving platforms, and environmental hazards arranged to punish careless movement. While the art style is relatively simple and clearly constrained by indie production values, it succeeds in reinforcing the seasonal theme and maintaining a coherent visual identity throughout the game. Puzzle elements are woven lightly into the platforming rather than presented as separate challenges. Certain levels require players to think about timing switches, moving obstacles, or the order in which hazards are approached, adding a layer of planning to the otherwise reflex-driven gameplay. Collectibles and coins provide optional incentives to explore more dangerous paths, though they rarely feel essential to progression. In many cases, the challenge of simply surviving the level overshadows completionist goals, which may appeal to players who enjoy focused, no-nonsense difficulty. A notable feature is the inclusion of local cooperative play, supporting multiple players on the same screen. This transforms the experience significantly, turning a solitary and sometimes punishing platformer into a more chaotic and social challenge. Coordinating jumps, avoiding traps together, and occasionally causing each other’s failures adds a layer of unpredictability that can make difficult sections more entertaining. While co-op does not fundamentally change level design, it does soften frustration and increase replay value, especially for players tackling the game casually with friends. Despite its strengths, Halloween Pumpkin Story shows its limitations in balance and polish. Difficulty spikes can feel abrupt, and some sections rely heavily on precise timing with little room for adjustment. Controls, while functional, can feel slightly rigid in high-pressure moments, amplifying frustration when repeated failures occur. Technical roughness and uneven pacing contribute to a mixed reception, as some players appreciate the challenge while others find it unnecessarily punishing or inconsistent. Ultimately, Halloween Pumpkin Story is a niche platformer that succeeds most when approached with the right expectations. It is not a smooth, story-driven adventure, nor does it aim for accessibility or broad appeal. Instead, it offers a compact, Halloween-themed test of patience and precision, enhanced by its spooky presentation and local co-op options. For players who enjoy challenging indie platformers with seasonal flair and are willing to tolerate rough edges in exchange for atmosphere and difficulty, it provides a fittingly eerie and occasionally rewarding experience.
