This game's performance is so unbelievably bad its utterly insane, there is no reason for the game to crash when my weapon touches the enemy. Don't buy this game, the optimization has only gotten WORSE since alpha testing, all the systems are made poorly and unoptimized and its mind bogling how bad these devs are at it. I regret purchasing the supporter edition when I thought the game was headed in a good direction.

I've played this game wayy too much yet I cannot recommended it. When the game works its amazing and very fun to play but every single death I've had in progression mode was from a bug. I'd get a bug that breaks all my bones then in abyss mode I'll get flung across the map and die instantly. Its unfair and frustrating so till this game gets its ♥♥♥♥ together I cannot recommended it.
This game is AMAZING, it is one of the few games that truly capture the essence of swordfighting to the limited degree a keyboard and mouse allow. And although all that is nice and dandy the fact is the game has a disease of bugs and performance issues WHILE NOTING THAT IT IS IN EARLY ACCESS, so all in all this is a great game and should turn out much smoother then it is right now.
I die from trying to swing my weapon more than from attacks from the opponents.
Spent 15 hours on the demo and decided to buy it at full price without hesitation. If you are a player who loves seeing physics‑driven gameplay, you should not miss this title. Instead of conventional button‑based attacks, you control your hand’s movement with your mouse — similar to Human: Fall Flat, yet built for combat. This makes fights feel physically realistic (and hilariously goofy). Damage dealt to enemies depends entirely on your weapon type, swing speed, and strike angle. The armour system is also excellent. Many games nerf armour for balance purposes, but here armour offers genuine protection. In full kit, you are nearly immune to most slashing and stabbing attacks; only blunt strikes can efficiently take down fully armoured soldiers. You can layer gambeson, chainmail and plate armour for maximum defence. I really enjoy this game and would recommend it to others. I also have a few suggestions for the dev team: 1. **Optimisation**: Performance is mediocre on my setup. At 2K medium‑high settings, most maps hover around 90 FPS and can hit 120 at times. However, heavy blood‑splatter effects cause stuttering. I hope for further performance improvements. 2. **More maps and modes**: The current map pool is rather small. I would love to see siege battles and naval combat in Half‑Sword someday (haha, maybe that is asking for too much). 3. **PvP, PvP, we want PvP!** I understand PvP is tough for a game with heavy physics calculations, but it could turn this into a breakout hit if implemented. At the very least, please add LAN support.
they broke the ♥♥♥♥ out of this game with the last update and haven't spoken on it. We'll see if they fix it or not
it is progressivly getting worse and worse no matter what my weapons do no damage you can hit them and they will over half the time eat the shot and hit you or just graze you and youll just explode or your bones will break the only thing they have done is make it more optimized beyond that the game is trash they are slow at doing any updates or even adding new content the most we have gotten was rocks and a chest plate recently the game will always be better in the demo than the full game
fighting is cool and good people who say its trash are just bad at the game i've never had a problem with the fighting
It's one of the best games ever, imo. There isn't a great deal of content, in all honesty. If it was another game, I doubt I would have played more than 10-15 hours of it, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ addictive. I played the original demo, the playtest, and now EA. I probably have around 200+ hours on the game in total, and istg most of it is just me doing the same thing over and over again, and for one simple reason: fighting is so much fun. The game is completely physics-based, and you control the character's weapon by holding LMB and moving your mouse. It is not an easy game to get the hang-of by any measure, but it's also not really that hard once you get used to it. When you understand the foundations of the combat system, and you get some familiarity with the additional mechanics, weapons, etc., the game is more just about practice, and even then, usually a great deal of luck lmao. Half-Sword is completely unhinged, tbh. It allows you to be an honourable knight, showing mercy, and sparing death, to those you defeat in battle, but on the other hand, it also allows you to unleash the most sadistic parts of yourself. You will feel shame when you look in the mirror, but that's probably a good sign for you as a person, on the whole. The game features anatomically correct bodies (mostly - no peens to slice ;-; ), including organs, muscles, and skeleton. Not only that, but Half-Sword is so dedicated to creating their ultra-realistic HEMA-based fighting game that they made sure to code anatomically correct cutting, bruising, snapping, and breaking. Wherever you cut with a sword will be wherever you draw blood, or sever parts, from. If you hit an artery, blood literally spurts everywhere, coating you, your victim, and the floor. Wherever you hit with a mace will bruise and fracture. Enough damage can cause joints to snap, and even bones to break. On top of these real-life components, there is screaming, and lots of it. Screaming, begging, death gurgling... it's all part of the hand-crafted experience. You can even choke someone to death with your bare hands whilst they attempt to kick and punch you in your grip, trying, with their dying breath, to stop you before their muscles tire, and their bodies' weaken. You can watch the life seep from their eyes as you tighten your grip. The point is, this game makes you realise that swords are fun. Everyone should buy a sword and start playing IRL Half-Sword. (in all seriousness, this game is stupid, fun, very replayable, and, yes, buggy, but - often - in a fun way.) Big-time buy!
