Suprisingly excellent game! its pretty difficult but i enjoyed it a lot would recommend
good game
Half-Earth Socialism is the most intense management simulator out there, until you get used to it. It has over 10 different things to manage (electricity, food, science points, gas, etc etc), all of which in some way influence the IMPORTANT things (temperature, pollution, biodecay(?), political power). Once you get used to the cycle of Science --> Infrastructure --> Policies, it becomes repetitive. Most of the draw of this game is figuring out how NOT to die in 2 turns (as I did many many times over). Trial and error is your friend. In a way, it almost resembles a roguelike, each "They voted you out" or "The planet boiled" giving you new information on what your first, second, and third policies should be. Overall a good experience, though medium-low replay value. 8/10, worth the 7 hours I put in.
I can't say I recommend the game only due to how wildly unbalanced it is. Using a steam guide I managed to completely forgo how the developers want you to play... (which I have to imagine means following the premise of the book this game is based on) ...but this means unless you've read it or are following a steam guide, you're not really going to beat since there's only a few viable paths you can take.
I really like the game. Sometimes a bit complex, but once you undersand how it works, it is not that hard.
I like that everything is clickable so if you have questions, it's easy to find the answers. Overall, the game is educational in that there is a lot of reading involved as well as resource management and diplomacy. The drawback is that once you figure out how to play the game, there are no updates or other courses to take so it's "game over." Still worth a try.
actually really cool and i wish this genre had more games...
