"GREAT TOY SHOWDOWN" is a bit of a cash grab, it's not free, it's a poorly made top down "battle royale" twin stick shooter game infested with an in-game cash shop and a bit of digital panhandling. While there's still a chance the developer might decide to finish this, the player numbers dropped sharply after launch once people saw what this is, and soon the game won't have any players. It's weird the developer hasn't had time to finish the game and needed to shove it into Early Access, but had all the time in the world to build a fully working cash shop and transaction system into the game. At this stage the question is whether the developer or the players will give up first, but my prediction is that this is a dead game walking. This has some really mediocre looking graphics that will understandably be a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarly visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. This isn't really free as the game is infested with mobile app store like microtransactions. This is a consumer hostile model that we don't need to see on PC. It's deceptively priced to gouge gamers, and that's a reason in itself to avoid this. The developer is also begging for a $5 donation, digital panhandling, the game developer equivalent of the homeless guys that splash dirty water on your windscreen at the traffic lights. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at less than 100 concurrent players, they couldn't even break three figures, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
