Gravulse Experimental, developed by illystray and verkme and published by verkme and illystray, is a compact first-person puzzle-platformer built around a deceptively simple but engaging idea: redefining how gravity works within a controlled environment. Set in a sterile, futuristic testing facility, the game places players in a sequence of experimental chambers where conventional movement is replaced by the ability to traverse walls, ceilings, and other surfaces through gravity manipulation. Rather than focusing on narrative or world-building, the experience is centered almost entirely on exploring and refining this core mechanic, making it feel more like an interactive prototype than a traditional full-length release. What makes the game stand out is how naturally it integrates its gravity-based systems into both movement and puzzle design. Players are encouraged to think spatially, constantly reorienting themselves as floors become walls and ceilings become viable paths. This shifting perspective creates a satisfying mental challenge, especially as later levels begin to combine multiple mechanics into more complex sequences. The game doesn’t hold your hand for long, instead trusting players to experiment, fail, and gradually understand the logic behind each puzzle. There’s a strong sense of learning through doing, which can be deeply rewarding when everything clicks into place. The progression is deliberately structured to build familiarity before introducing more demanding challenges. Early stages serve as a gentle introduction, but the difficulty ramps up steadily, requiring precision and careful timing. This emphasis on accuracy gives the game a slightly unforgiving edge—mistakes are often punished by having to restart sections, which can either motivate players to improve or frustrate those less inclined toward repetition-heavy gameplay. Still, for fans of skill-based platforming, this trial-and-error loop adds a layer of satisfaction that complements the game’s conceptual focus. Visually, Gravulse Experimental leans into minimalism. The environments are clean and functional, prioritizing readability over visual spectacle. The laboratory setting reinforces the idea that you are part of a controlled experiment, and while it lacks detailed storytelling or character-driven elements, it succeeds in creating a consistent atmosphere. The simplicity of the presentation works in the game’s favor, ensuring that players remain focused on navigation and puzzle-solving rather than being distracted by unnecessary visual clutter. One of the most important factors shaping the overall experience is its scope. The game is relatively short and doesn’t offer a wide range of content beyond its central mechanic. Once players have mastered the core idea, there isn’t much in terms of variation or additional systems to keep the experience evolving. This limitation makes it feel more like a proof-of-concept than a fully realized product, but it also means the game doesn’t overextend itself. It delivers exactly what it sets out to do, even if that goal is modest. There are also some rough edges that become more noticeable over time. Movement can occasionally feel a bit stiff or imprecise, which is particularly problematic in a game that relies heavily on accuracy. The lack of variety in environments and objectives can make later stages feel repetitive, and players looking for a deeper or more narrative-driven experience may find themselves disengaged once the novelty of the mechanics wears off. These issues don’t necessarily ruin the experience, but they do highlight the limitations of its experimental nature. Despite these shortcomings, Gravulse Experimental succeeds in leaving a lasting impression. Its core mechanic is clever, well-implemented, and genuinely enjoyable to learn, demonstrating how a focused design philosophy can carry an entire game. It’s the kind of project that sparks curiosity about what a more expanded version could look like, suggesting that the developers have a strong foundation to build upon in future work. In the end, Gravulse Experimental is best appreciated as a short but thoughtful exploration of a unique gameplay idea. It may not offer the depth or longevity of larger titles, but it provides a memorable and mentally engaging experience for those willing to embrace its experimental design. For players interested in innovative mechanics and physics-based puzzles, it’s an easy recommendation—especially given its accessible nature. Rating: 7./10

it's a good game, but I do not know why the developers abandoned it and stopped making it further, new levels and some new mechanics.
A portal-like game minus the portals plus gravity defying tunnels. Welp. The result is a nauseating game. If you have motion sickness like me, you'll find it difficult to like this game. The puzzles look interesting though so I kept playing. However, the input controls are not functioning half of the time. At first I thought it's my laptop acting up, but I checked the other reviews and many other people experienced the same thing. I hope the game devs will fix the input controls issue. I'll reconsider playing this game again and updating this review.
