Total jank. Checked the dev's page and turns out they have 3 games in my library all sitting at Negative (had no idea beforehand), I must've been drunk when bought it. Just saw the announcement that the whole series is getting delisted—guess it flopped hard. Get rekt.

Reviews: 1/10
挺好的,cg一般,不过好歹有跳过。
玩打发下时间也行,打折入太便宜了。

Girl & Gem Magic, developed and published by Twilight Sonata Studio, is a compact but stylistically bold puzzle-strategy hybrid that layers gem-matching mechanics atop a lightly roguelike framework and an unmistakably anime-influenced presentation. From the moment the game begins, it signals its intentions clearly: this is a blend of tactical puzzle-solving and adult-themed character interaction, wrapped in bright colors, expressive artwork, and a structure meant to encourage repeated short runs. It is designed for players who enjoy the interplay between simple yet engaging mechanics and the collectible appeal of character-driven progression. At the heart of the experience is a gem-elimination system that diverges from the typical falling-block formula seen in match-3 titles. Instead of managing pieces that drop from above, Girl & Gem Magic asks you to place gem clusters directly onto the board, positioning them in ways that create horizontal or vertical matches. This makes the gameplay more deliberate and strategic, as the player must weigh not only which pieces to place but where they will best set up chain reactions or future opportunities. Clearing gems generates different effects depending on the encounter, creating a rhythm where short-term tactical decisions gradually build toward long-term efficiency. As the board fills under pressure, carefully setting up chains becomes not just satisfying, but essential for victory. The game’s structure is enriched by roguelike elements that push the player through a branching map filled with shops, treasure chests, random events, and battles with the game’s cast of anime-styled heroines. Each node on the map presents a choice: engage in combat to earn rewards, take a detour through a shop to refine your strategy, or gamble on a chest for potential bonuses. The randomness of these maps lends replay value to the experience while encouraging players to experiment with different paths and upgrade combinations. Items and upgrades purchased along the way can dramatically alter the feel of a run, offering buffs that manipulate gem placement, improve resource gain, or modify combat interactions. As the difficulty escalates, these strategic layers become increasingly important. The aesthetic presentation is aimed squarely at fans of anime character art and adult-themed storytelling. Encounters with the game’s heroines unfold in visual novel-style sequences where your success in puzzles raises their affection or influences the direction of the narrative. This system, while simple, provides a sense of progression beyond the board itself, allowing players to unlock endings and scenes tied to the characters they encounter. The artwork is polished for a low-priced indie title, and the character designs carry the game’s personality, offering a mixture of charm, playfulness, and mature appeal. Twilight Sonata Studio makes clear that all characters are depicted as adults, but the tone remains light and sensual rather than explicit, positioning the game as suggestive rather than graphic. While the game delivers a satisfying blend of puzzle mechanics and character-driven rewards, it does have limitations inherent to its scale and genre. Its core mechanics are easy to learn but not deeply transformative, meaning that long sessions can begin to feel repetitive once players understand optimal gem placement patterns. The roguelike map adds variety but not dramatic unpredictability, and experienced players may find themselves desiring more nuanced mechanics or additional card-like modifiers to deepen the strategy. Still, the relatively brief playtime, multiple endings, and low asking price help contextualize these shortcomings; the game is not meant to be a massive, sprawling puzzle epic but a compact, replay-friendly experience with clear thematic focus. Community reception reflects this balance of strengths and modest ambitions. Players who approach Girl & Gem Magic for its puzzle gameplay mixed with anime-themed character interaction tend to enjoy its charm, accessibility, and stylish presentation. Those expecting deeper mechanics or a more complex strategic system may find it lacking. However, the overwhelmingly positive user reviews on Steam suggest that, for its intended audience, the game succeeds in offering a fun, inexpensive, and easily digestible hybrid of gem strategy and visual novel elements. In the end, Girl & Gem Magic stands as a small but distinctive puzzle title that confidently blends its mechanics with its aesthetic. It delivers a satisfying loop of strategic placement, incremental upgrades, and character-driven outcomes, all packaged in an approachable roguelike structure. While not a groundbreaking work in either puzzle or narrative design, it is an inviting and charming experience for players who enjoy anime-inspired gameplay, tactical gem clearing, and short-form replayable adventures.
