Frogshot Adventure

[b]EDIT[/b]: Most of the feedback has been addressed the day after. It shows the developer is actively listening, and I respect that a lot. Thanks! FrogShot Adventure is a deceptively difficult precision platformer. Think Super Meat Boy (short levels in themed worlds that share a gimmick) meets Jump King (a unique method of jumping where undershooting or overshooting may cost you your progress dearly). While there are several checkpoints littered around the level to ease the frustration, they're relatively few, so there's still much on the line. [b]For those who crave masochism or see joy in overcoming a great challenge, this is great. For those seeking a cute, more casual platformer may be better off looking elsewhere.[/b] Despite having moments pulling my hair out even after playing the first level of both the ice world and the cave world, I can see it has a great foundation to work on. The artstyle and themes are cute, the gimmicks impose variety of challenge (though admittedly they are a bit strict - for instance, the blizzard in the ice world could send you careening off into spikes in the first cannon you see that launches your frog, or the light fades away maybe a little too fast in the cave world). I do have some frustrations I'd like to share, though: [list] [*]The smooth camera looks nice, but needs to be snappier when aiming to launch the frog. I've had cases I died because I dragged, and yet the camera slowly centers to the frog, causing me to barely undershoot... [*]In the ice world, despite a blizzard going on, the frog can fall off the edge of a platform, giving you no means to recover. While it makes sense, there's a tight platform in the halfway point with a level in between. [i]Note that the lever cancels the tongue grapple, meaning you have to intentionally corner yourself, causing you to lose dear progress for something that almost feels out of your control if you overshoot.[/i] [*]Also in the ice level, that level triggers a time-limited block as a stepping stone. While everything went relatively smoothly, I've had cases where I had to retry the same jump more than ten times to even reach it. I'm under the impression that tight jumps and a strict time limit is a little too harsh... [*]I've had an instance where collapsing platforms can trigger even if not explicitly standing on them (in the cave world, first level). This can be rather frustrating. [*]The pause menu being physics-simulated is rather cute, but a means to quickly restart a level without waiting for the ropes to settle would be much better. [*]Even after a 30 minute session, my wrist already hurts from all the clicking and dragging. For a game like this, controller support is a must. [/list] Regardless, I will give it a recommendation because I like to see this game flourish. The creativity of the level themes is fun. Platformers like these are always oozing charm, and more themed worlds would be really cool.

It's simple, it's fun, it's a game about a cute frog getting flies and getting to an end. Great as it is, even if sometimes difficult.
