Freshman Year is a vignette game about an ordinary night in the life a college freshman named Nina. Nina's best friend Jenna invites her to meet up at a local bar with some classmates. Jenna is sort of flaky though, so Nina has to navigate the party by herself.

It's been a while since I've played this one. I remember it as a really heartfelt experience that has really stuck with me in the 10 years since I've played it. It's really short. I spent under an hour with it. Honestly though, I think that's a good length for what it is -- a vignette into a painful, lonely encounter. A game that would later help me navigate my feelings about sexual coercion and SA. It's a cool indie visual novel thing if you're into those!
not much of a game but a really well-told story. the sound design made me feel almost as strongly about the situation as the main character
literally ends in r*pe, should be taken down- louise (my sister)

What's the point?
I mean this with respect for both the concept and the execution: if you're looking for a game, look elsewhere.
I was assigned this game as homework in my Game Studies class as part of a series of games that weren't meant as entertainment. While I feel that I got something out of my experience of playing Freshman Year because of the conversation we'll have in class talking about it, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone outside of that context. Freshman Year is a short story about a young woman who is sexually assaulted and how her best friend acts like this is just a normal thing to happen. This is an important narrative that everyone needs to engage with somehow in order to solve this issue, but I feel that this game is not the way to accomplish that. It just doesn't go anywhere enough to have an impact. However, with all that said, I don't wish to diminish the value of the game's existence. I acknowledge that creating it and releasing it to the world may have helped the creator, and I appreciate the contribution to the representation of the topic.
very short (but on the point) game with a well written story and beautiful artwork - and an important message about sexual assault and rape culture.
Bad. Don't play. Just what the ♥♥♥♥? The only moral is if you turn into a girl; don't go outside walkin in shirt or you'll get raped ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
