Four Kings One War is a 1 or 2 player strategy game inspired by chess. Each player controls two armies as though they were one and get's two moves per turn. This opens up guerrilla style tactics and hidden attacks. This is strategy for the modern mind, outside the 64th square.

I know this game is in early access FOR MORE THAN A YEAR, and as a real Chess lover I really was looking forward for this game, but BIG MEH, there is why: - Even though I set the graphics "Low", the game feels heavy, it freezes and lags, and TBH graphics aren't that great to be felt this way. Might be graphics bug or poor coding; - I realy, really, REALLY hate the idea of not making this game as a 4 player game, instead they made 2 player game with 2 sides per player, duh.
first off I'm not a big chess player and I'm literally going through my entire game library playing/reviewing each game so I went into this not very interested which discredits a bit of my review but here is what I can say on the technical side of things -in the tutorial instead of explaining how to move the camera with the keyboard keys it would have been easier to just explain that pushing and holding the right mouse button while moving the mouse is how to move the camera (in my opinion) -next there is no volume settings and so I quickly found the animal noises to be annoying (and I would have to go out of the game to turn them down) -I felt the game had potential for a free for all mode with 4 players instead of only having 1v1 mode -the movement of the pieces was a bit slow and had no sound for movements and especially take downs which make the game feel lifeless -the only level that you can clearly see each of the colors of the chess pieces is on the glowworm level because it is so dark on the other levels the pieces colors blend in with each other (they are all situated during dusk or nighttime) -the icon showing which persons turn it is, is huge and in an inconvienent spot having it on a corner of the screen and smaller would be much better there were a few things that I noticed that the game did well - the ghost characters showing off humorous ways that pieces were eliminated -the AI seemed competent enough to kick my butt it just wasn't my type of game and it still has some quality of life changes that needs to be done

Really suffers from the 3D view. There's a reason why almost all major chess applications are 2D. Doesn't help that the UI navigation isn't exactly intuitive.
No lo recomiendo, no funciona, no podés mover bien las piezas, ni tampoco se puede mover la cámara ni nada, puede llamarte la atención por el 2v2, pero uno termina usando 2 reyes, no es que es un 2v2 como dije antes.
Playtime: 38 minutes Review This is chess ("chiss" as the tutorial guy calls it) with both players controlling two sets each in a corner of the board and smaller rules changes (horsies move double, pawns 3 spaces). It's cute, but not even the best re-imaging of chess i've seen in a videogame (that's Chess 2). It also sorely lacks basic features like speeding up animations, volume sliders, undo moves, et cetera.
看了一眼就走了,免费游戏也就这样吧。画面还行,游戏规则还没搞懂,就不乱差评了。
Gran juego pero... Muchos Bugs Mal manejo de programacion Mal renderizacion Mal optimizacion Mala jugabilidad Es divertido solo con amigos
Interesting idea, but there are a few negatives id like to point out: -basically no playerbase, either play vs AI or queue with a friend -at first i would have expected a 4 player mode, i think thatd make the game even more interesting Overall nice idea, nice execution. Dont expect amazing graphics or whatever (its free!) and the one match i played vs a bot was quite entertaining.
It's not great. 4/10
Four Kings One War is a chess-inspired game that was originally given away for free in 2020 (now free-to-play). Unlike traditional chess, each player controls two sides and makes two moves per turn. Visually, it’s appealing, with stages like a lush forest, though the levels are generally too dark. Beyond the aesthetics, there’s not much I enjoyed. The tutorial is short, the pieces move too slowly, and I often couldn’t make the moves I intended. I found it more confusing than fun. If you're a chess lover seeking something new, you might like it—but I didn’t.
