Already from an early point, the story unfurls itself into your character asking questions about the space station and events taking place in it, allowing your mind to start wandering and guessing on upcoming events. This in combination with the narrative that's well-crafted, intriguing and easy to jump into, makes it an enjoyable experience. Nice to have so many subtle animations as well, they were well-placed and didn't abrupt gameplay in any way. While the main point is narration, I still feel the need to mention that I'm not fully sold on the way movement is handled. It feels like we're gliding around too much, making it sometimes tricky to do even basic things such as moving through a doorframe. I noticed many annoying moments when moving around the space station, and I believe that a better job could have been done in this area. A brief but enjoyable first-person sci-fi mystery. Clocking in at around an hour, you'll spend your time interacting with objects and speaking with crew to progress the story. The voice actors are all pretty decent and really help immerse you in the narrative. Being a budget title from a solo developer there are a few bugbears - there's no lip sync, there's no graphical options, and movement feels a little floaty. Although a controller is offered as a control option, it's almost impossible to play with one due to there being no way to change the camera sensitivity. At one point the footstep sound effects for a character failed to stop playing over a cutscene. And it's a small thing, but I would have loved the scenery outside the station to be animated rather than a static skybox, as I think that would have really added a lot of immersion for me personally. That said, I thought the station itself, while small, was atmospheric and lit well. The character models were well made, and the sound and music tied everything together nicely. Most importantly, the story is compelling enough to keep pushing you forward, and the voice acting from the main character in particular really helps sell the story. So if you're looking for a well-written, well-voiced and engaging sci-fi mystery that is priced right and doesn't overstay its welcome, this one delivers.
You play as Greg, an astronaut traveling to a space station with four other people. It is a three-year assignment, and you will be working alongside three other scientists on the station. The job is boring because you will be listening to space sounds and there is not much to do on the station. However, things get strange after a while. First, you lose memory and have difficulty recalling things, and then you discover a strange corrupted file on an old computer in your workplace. Others who came with you are experiencing similar memory loss, but the scientists in charge refuse to speak with you. It appears that you are a participant in some experiment. This is new version of a game that’s available for free. But as can be seen from the title, the difference is the camera switch to a first-person view. Controls are easy because you do not have many options. You can only walk, so energy-intensive movements like jumping or crouching are not possible. Walking is a bit floaty, but it’s not too bad. Interaction is achieved by moving the camera about and aiming it at intriguing objects. Although these spots are marked with a visual cue regardless of distance, you must still approach close enough to interact with them. Item use is limited to only one item, and you can use by selecting the proper interaction. There are no puzzles. Most hotspots only allow for one or two interactions, which are frequently limited to "look," "use," and "talk" with characters. People are voiced and provide various debate topics, but you will only hear them once because the topics disappear. When presented a question, you can select one of numerous possibilities, but aside from changed text, the story will continue towards the same single ending. The station is quite uninteresting and small. Although you can sometimes communicate with people, there are no mysteries and you cannot explore rooms. The game takes you through a couple of days, and you simply need to do a specified task to advance. Unfortunately, there are no objectives, so you must interact with everything until you locate the appropriate trigger. But on the other hand, the game only takes around one hour. You can save at any time, but you probably won’t have to do that because you can’t get stuck or die.
This is clearly a low-budget game. However, it tells an intriguing space mystery that you'll definitely want to experience in one sitting. It's short, about an hour long, and the entire cast is fully voiced, which added a nice touch. I definitely recommend it for the story.
I really enjoyed playing "Forever Space". This game is very short and can be completed within an hour or less. The story is intriguing and immersive. Your character, Greg Winston along with four other crew members volunteer to work on a space station. As the story progresses, Greg has to unravel the mysterious truth to why they are actually on the space station. The graphics, voice acting, and music are fantastic. I highly recommend this really short length entertaining game for the immersive story.
Breve avventura, più vicina al walking simulator che all'avventura classica, che riesce comunque a dare forma ad un mistero intrigante. Gestione del 3D e gestione delle collisioni non sempre perfetta
short narrative game about being greg and going to space, why are you there and why do you have memory issues? It will all become clear. Was a decent little story that played through in about an hour. Would recommend.
This was a short but quite enjoyable adventure! I think the story unfolded well, and the voice acting did a good job of conveying the characters, with nice touches of music. All in all, definitely worthwhile.
Short but fun. Interesting story and great voice acting :)
Is a bit buggy but a nice new version of the old adventure game "Forever Space" from the same creator (got a short story with no real puzzles or new additions but still kinda fun to play also nostalgia value for those who played the old one).
