ima gonna say ignore the negative review as this game is not pay to win (i think the first 3 they give you are lowkey so strong i felt like i was trolling) this is a weirdly unique game where there are kinda roles that apply to a platform fighter and i honestly think this is really polished for what it is and hope to see this grow. just download it and try its free and alot of fun to play duo with friends. we are shredding
SUCH A FUN GAME!!! I'm not a Smash Bros. fan but this is such a fun game.
This honestly could be great, but unfortunately it falls quite short. The game play is honestly fine. I'd say I'm happy with it, but everything before it sucks. First of all - the game is clearly pay to win. No doubt about it, the characters have stats boosts through emblems which you use stickers to buy and upgrade. The issue is you get stickers fairly slowly, and if you were to just hand over your credit card it would happen much faster. On that note, good luck purchasing a character. One character costs 688 of their premium currency (the one they want you to buy). The other currency you get naturally through the pass. The pass only gives you like 60-70 coins and one character is 80. Clearly aimed to punish F2P players. The game wants you to fail from the start - this game doesn't care if you're a new player or someone with experience in platform fighters. I have about 1500 hours on brawlhalla, so I know my way around. But for someone new, this being your first experience is going to go poorly. The game tells you go play a matchmaking game, which is weird, but actually puts you up against a bot. The arena has the 3 basic suggestions move with A/D, J for light attacks, K for specials. Which is horrible cuz the bot is actively hitting you and fighting you. This would be alright if it was a bot match, but the game does actually have a tutorial, I'm genuinely not sure why this is the first thing they want you to experience. Also, the menus are weird AF. I went into training only for the bot to fight me and kill a bunch of times, while I try to find the setting to disable it's AI. I did, and nothing happened. Because you actually choose that on the same screen where you select your map, which is just stupid. Or at least you should be able to set that inside the map as well. The game also doesn't have a menu while in training mode. If you press escape it just sends you to the lobby. I also soft-locked one of the tutorials, because the game prompts you to do a move, but doesn't give you full control of the character. Only what it deems necessary. I think the tutorial would be great if the game let you mess around with each prompt. Only restricting you to what it said. For example, when it tells you how to move, let the player move left and right, not just in the direction of the bot. When the games tells you to attack, it should let you whiff attacks and move around and so no. I don't see why it's necessary to prevent the player from messing around with the game in the tutorial. Another incredibly bad thing about this game, there's no servers in Europe. Which is just funny and pathetic. I had pretty decent ping against my friends on NA east, but still over 100. As a final statement, please don't download this game or play it for any prolonged period of time. The only thing it's good for is to mess around with your friends, and then just uninstalling.
good for beginner fighting game players but way too pay to win in my opinion
Flash Party is a 2D platform fighter that can be played both here and on mobile. For a free to play game, it has beautiful animations and clean character models, as well as unique and interesting movesets for each of the characters. Smash bros veterans will feel right at home playing this, as most of the mechanics exist in this game too. If you want to play a decent platform fighter with your friends and have some fun, it might be the game for you. This game however is still free to play and therefore should not be taken seriously as a competitive game, as it has pay to win mechanics in the form of stickers that undermine the game's balance and blur the line between skill and gear. It also has only three servers, those being Japan, North America and South America, therefore players from other parts of the world such as Europe can expect lag during the matches. The accumulation of characters for your roster is also kind of slow, but it is to be expected from a free to play game. Additionally, playing on Steam gives you a distinct advantage against mobile players as keyboards or controllers are much more fluid to play a fighting game. Ultimately, I give this game an overall good rating, it is free, so you can have some fun with friends if you so want to. It is a decent platform fighter for what its worth, and the developers have put in some work for the characters to feel fluid and distinct from one another, it is simply being held down from other parts of the mobile genre as well as a greater variety in terms of features and content for the players. It is possible that with a larger player base it could improve, as this game is surprisingly old.
