At times it can be boring, even frustrating. The gameplay and the story won't truly reach their peak until the player invests themselves in it. But what's on the other side of that hump is a game that deserves it's reputation. Tactics is every bit the masterpiece people say. In some regards it's still unrivalled all these years later.
Am a huge fan of Triangle Strategy, Octopath Traveller and also just completed The Advantages of Elliot, but I can't stand this game at all. This is a great game from the 90s, but it's now 2026 already. The first few hours were a grinding hell, enemies are often more powerful with a bigger amount than your team even the difficulty setting is just normal. Each level takes long because the opponent AI heals a lot and runaway from your attacker during the grind. And most levels and points after the long grind wouldn't be helpful at mid to late game. Control and UI are not user friendly, you have to wait until your turn if you want to pause the game or open the menu; Instructions and tutorials are not clear, you might need to spend some minutes to figure out how to turn off the auto battle; Story is meh, but some stories are unskippable. There is no point in buying this game unless you are into the FF series and want to learn all the background in the universe. If you just want a nice game to play, Triangle Strategy is a better game for a cheaper price.
nowhere near as good as I remembered
We all know you're all just gonna run your Ninja Ramza run again It's sad Fire Emblem took the tactics format and just kept it in Nintendo Exclusive consoles Remaster also Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2 or continue a game like Triangle Strategy at least, we really need more of this genre of Classic Tactics that's grid based and pixel arts style
Pragmastismo x Idealismo. Os fins justificam os meios?
I have played the original Final Fantasy Tactics when it was released for the PS1 back in the 90s, and it was one of my favorite game of all time! This remaster is not just a lazy port, it had enhanced so much stuff in it, and still kept all the good stuff unchanged! I would be happy if they just made the original classic one on PC, and I'm super glad they went above and beyond and made the masterpiece into a shinier masterpiece! Ok, now onto the meat of the game review. This is a very nice JRPG, and one of the best tactical RPG out there. The story is very well done, and now with voice acted dialogues, the game is so much better. I have played mostly using Japanese voice, and have listened to the English voice on YouTube, the voice actors are very good in their performance. I can feel they have put a lot of emotions voicing it. Several plots in the game made me cry and tear up because of the music and voiced scripts. The job system and the tactical battle is very satisfying to play with. The original game had a few very infamous battles that would soft-lock your playthrough, and the enhanced version they had solved all the soft lock problems! They also added a lot of QoL updates that make the game a lot more approachable for newbies, and a higher difficulty settings for veterans and people who likes a bit of challenge. The only complaint I have is the price. I hope they would add more replayability in future updates. The modding scene is relatively new, and there isn't much reason for replayability as of now. My Score: 9.5/10
FFT is probably my favorite game of all time. Why is this review a year after the game released then? Because they finally got rid of denuvo.
no se sabe porque no les salio de los cojones traducirlo al español
Game is harder at the early stages when you dont have your toolkit properly built, starts getting really easy once you have a few jobs properly set up. Enjoyed the game of thrones-esque storyline. Battle animations could have been sped up.
