If you thought the PC community was angry about FIFA 21, FIFA 22 took that frustration and amplified it. Despite PC hardware being more than capable, EA once again decided to treat PC players as an afterthought, delivering the old-generation version of the game while hyping up their new HyperMotion technology exclusively for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. Let that sink in: if you bought this on Steam, you were paying full price for a game that was intentionally missing the biggest marketing feature of the year. It was essentially FIFA 21.5 with updated kits and rosters, making the PC player base feel completely disrespected. As for the actual gameplay we got on PC, it was a very strange mixed bag. The goalkeepers were buffed to an absurd level inside the penalty box, making point-blank saves look like scenes from an action movie. Yet, ironically, you could score finesse shots from 30 yards out with incredible ease. The pace-abuse meta was slightly toned down compared to the previous year, giving passers a bit more room to breathe, but the notorious momentum shifts and heavy scripting were still glaringly present. Competitive matches often felt like they were decided by the game engine rather than pure skill. For offline players, Career Mode introduced the Create a Club feature. It was a step in the right direction and fun for a few seasons, allowing you to design your own kits and stadium, but it ultimately lacked the deep, immersive customization needed to keep it engaging long-term. Ultimate Team, as expected, remained the primary focus of the developers, continuing its aggressive trend of heavy monetization and pay-to-win mechanics disguised behind shiny weekly promos. Objectively speaking, looking at the overwhelming community consensus, it was a deeply disappointing port for the PC platform. It functions as a decent football game if you just want to kick a ball around offline or play locally with friends, but the decision to deny PC players the next-gen engine completely ruined the reputation of this specific release.

It was a ♥♥♥♥ game, is a ♥♥♥♥ game and but still better than FC26. Holy Cow the downward of FIFA needs to be studied.
