Fields of Mistria

For me, the second best Harvest Moon inspired game, just behind Stardew Valley. The comparison is pretty much impossible, even so, SV has had 10 years of updates to mature into the game it is, meanwhile FoM just released on 1.0 and has a lot of potential to grow. The aesthetic, music and characters are amazing, the gameplay loop is fun and cozy, and the story and dialogue can be a bit cheesy at times but is very varied and detailed. The endgame was a bit disapointing for me, the events are very few and simple, and the marriage system seems a little boring. Overall the game has a ton of potential, and its already one of my favorite farm/social games. Juniper best girl. Great game. (Let us marry multiple people please)

I’m really not a farming game guy, but the art style of Fields of Mistria jumped out at me immediately. The fact that there was an actual story, not just constantly trying to improve your farm and get hitched, and that the get to learn magic spells that aren’t for blasting monster meant I kept coming back to consider buying it. Ultimately I figure what the hell, it’s not like it’s expensive, and if I hate it, at least I can officially say I don’t like game sims, rather than just vaguely not being into them. Well, damn. As soon as I download FoM I couldn’t stop playing. I blew off so many things in real life to play and try and the town ready for each next season. 10/10
