i didn't have any fun playing this, although the arts of some part are really good but the game it self is really bad, the UI is ugly, and the story is not good to begin with, there are some questionable mechanism and it's really frusterting to use
Cute little stardew type game. Demo is 2 in-game weeks. Needs QoL improvements and balance changes. For example, the lady who fixes your tools will steal your sticks if you don't have money for the repair. Heavily focusing on one skill such as lumbering will easily get you net positive each day. The lady who gives seeds needs the cost of crop to seed conversion to be fixed, I didn't try a lot of them, but one of them costed exactly the same as just buying a seed from her, but additionally takes the crop from you, meaning an overall 2.6x cost from simply buying a new seed from her. Leveling is likely far too easy for the real game. I reached max level in lumber and about half max in everything else. The same button should not be used for action, interaction, gifting, and pressing buttons in menus, or at least when they happen should be separated. For example, I would almost always accidentally waste energy when closing a menu or throw the fishing line (and terribly) when accepting that I caught a fish. I also accidentally gifted a ton of things, one of them being a whole furnace haha. Basically no reason to build anything in the demo as most things are either not very useful or take a lot of specific resources to build that would be better off sold. Map needs work, it is roughly useless as it is. It looks alright, but it fails on functionality. The "gain" system needs work. It appeared nonfunctional when I looked at it. I didn't try to buy anything but on all levels all three options of bonuses were the same thing. Having resources respawn every week also needs some QoL changes. There should be some easy and cheap ways for players to prevent specific spaces from being filled with resources. While the weekly schedule provides some benefits, making every open space a place for a full grown tree to spawn is a bit annoying. Selecting and deselecting a tool should be modified. The selection covers the durability of the tools and make using the controls a bit weird when you don't want to accidentally do something. The quests need to be balanced some. The rewards don't make any sense for some of them. For example, the harvesting quest rewards 500g, but simply selling those same potatoes would yield 2490g, nearly 5x as much. I expect at the current sell prices of everything and the principal debt and interest rate, most people would be able to pay off the full debt in around 100 days. This makes it a relatively short game. Increasing the principle and lowering the interest rate could greatly extend the game time, but you could also just add in a lot of post-debt gameplay goals. I would be careful when adjusting the debt and interest as making it too unmanageable will kill player motivation. Some of the language didn't translate to English. I think the base game is very solid. It is rough around the edges and needs depth added to it, but it is a very good start!

"Farm Debt Repay Life:Prologue" is not a game. It's an advertisement for a product called "Farm Debt Repay Life". Farm Debt Repay Life is a godawful Unity kitbash, a bunch of stolen/asset flipped 2D retro pixel tilesets and sprites slapped on a basic game template with a bit of mucking around to make it look like the "developer" had some involvement in the process of rearranging other people's game assets. And what was the outcome? A ripoff of Stardew Valley so bad even Temu wouldn't touch it. But this isn't completely relevant because this is not Farm Debt Repay Life, it's just an advertisment for it, so it's not correct to try to review that completely distinct product. We must instead review this for what it is... an advertisement. If you enjoy advertisements, you can consume them for free on the web or on Youtube without needing to add them to your game library, download them, and then launch the advertising. It's impossible in a general sense to recommend people should do that over playing real, full games on Steam, and that applies here with "Farm Debt Repay Life:Prologue" too. The purpose of this advertisement is to get you to shell out a whopping $8 USD on buying Farm Debt Repay Life, and I don't recommend you do that either. This is only free in the same way that adverts on Youtube and banner ads in your browser are. This is a game demo that's been dumped on Steam to advertise another Steam store page in the hopes of raking in some cash. Just because advertisements are free, doesn't mean they're worth your time. It's important to understand there's a formal process to create a demo/page for a game which hasn't been followed here: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/application/demos While it might seem like an inocuous mistake, publishing demos and advertisements as if they are full games is misleading and in some ways harmful. This advertisement is taking up marketing space and visibility that would be better made available to a developer that's done the right thing and created a full game. Instead, that visibility is given over to a demo/advert that's been published incorrectly and is polluting the marketplace. It's unclear if this mistake was made through incompetence or a deliberate intent to mislead gamers. Often developers may choose to incorrectly publish demo/advertisements as separate games as a cheap way to bypass paying Valve for marketing presence on the Steam front page, which may seem clever to them, but it's harmful behaviour and it's not good for gamers. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 5 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Advertisements and incorrectly published demos don't add +1 to your game collector count, they aren't full games. It's impossible for me to recommend this incorrectly published advertising spam to gamers, you deserve better than adverts.
Updated Review Thoughts
Yet another pixel art farming simulator, however this one focuses on paying off a massive debt (which accrues interest each day!) rather than the traditional model of a casual rags to riches adventure. Not bad for a prologue, but there's certainly some translations that are a little rough and others that are missing. Also, there's not a lot of flavor text or ability to interact with furniture or other objects in the housing area besides the bed. It's mostly immersion though, so it may not bother everyone. The fishing mini-game is decent though, basically you just hold down left-click and let go when the fish struggles and your rod stability recovers then hold it down again and repeat until you catch it. I'm definitely a fan of any model that results in limited clicking of the mouse. I also like that you don't pass out when you run dry of energy, however you will pass out at 24:00 hours instead of 02:00 like a lot of other farming simulators. Recipe/blueprint unlocks appear to be tied to leveling up skills associated with the various harvesting options (mining, woodcutting, etc) as opposed to some models where you purchase them from NPC vendors. As you might expect overall the gameplay elements are quite familiar if you've played games in this genre before. However, on average the total NPC count is a bit low and it's unclear if there are seasonal events and community style unlocks/projects. Though perhaps these are all baked into the current quest system that I haven't fully cleared as of yet. Speaking of the quest system, the way you turn them in is a bit odd. The ones that you have to "turn in" to a specific NPC don't have a quest turn-in dialogue for that. Rather you have to select the item they want and left-click them as if you are "gifting" it to them then it completes the quest. However, it also triggers the typical gift giving cooldown, which seems like a weird thing to do for a quest turn-in. I think the big takeaway from this prologue is that whether or not the game is for you is going to be based on how the theme of paying off debt works for you. It's fine for me, but I can certainly see how people who enjoy the social relationship (friendship/romance) and town building aspects might not find it as appealing as several other games out there from the genre.

Original Review before gameplay bug was fixed
Game seems like it could be interesting but I can't really get to the core gameplay aspects because every time I leave the main house where you start nothing progresses. Can't move, can't open the menu, can't interact with anything. At first I thought it might just be a cutscene taking a long time to trigger, but I stayed there for several minutes waiting and no luck. Also tried sleeping to trigger Day 2 before going outside and got the same result. Tried talking to the three NPCs before going out the front door, that didn't work. Tried waiting until all the NPCs were out of their room, then talked to them, then went out the front door, also didn't work. Anyone able to get past this point?
