I do generally like this game, the puzzles are fun if not overly challenging, and I like the fun added puzzles in finding the secret notes. However I cannot recommend this game to new players. Non of the achievements work without messing around with the steam console and downloading an older debug build. There is a guide on steam about how to do this but I do not think that a game you pay money for should have this kind of problem years after release. If you get it in a bundle it may be worth it but otherwise I cannot recommend to others.
Игра пройдена от корки до корки. Но, похоже, мы раньше присоединимся к главному герою в секретной локации, чем дождемся починки ачивок. The game is fully completed. But it seems to be that we will sooner join the main character in a secret location, than can wait for the achievements bug fix.
Unlike the previous game, this one thankfully doesn't have a game breaking bug with one of the puzzles. The solution is the one from the mobile version instead of what the puzzle shows on the PC version. And that STILL hasn't been fixed in the original game. With that being said, there's a lot of jank present here. So many objects that you can clip through, a zipline i one of the levels can be used without even getting the handle for it, doors that vanish once you unlock them can still be interacted with even though they are gone etc etc. Originally played the first game in its demo form back on Kongregate and then on mobile. Positive review only cause of nostalgia.
Faraway: Jungle Escape, developed by Pine Studio and published by Snapbreak, is a relaxing first-person puzzle adventure that invites players to explore mysterious jungle ruins filled with clever mechanisms and ancient secrets. It belongs to a long-running series of Faraway games, each themed around a different environment, but this entry focuses on lush greenery, forgotten temples, and an atmosphere of quiet curiosity. At its heart, the game is about observation and problem-solving rather than narrative complexity or mechanical innovation. It embraces a minimalist philosophy that favors meditative exploration over intensity, and this approach works in its favor when played as a calm, thoughtful escape rather than a grand adventure. The structure of Faraway: Jungle Escape is simple but satisfying. Players move through a sequence of temple levels, each self-contained and built around a collection of environmental puzzles. Every stage begins with a sense of discovery: stone doors to open, levers to pull, runes to align, and switches to activate. Each solved puzzle leads to another layer of the temple opening up, eventually revealing a path forward. The game’s logic is easy to grasp, and most challenges rely on spatial reasoning and pattern recognition rather than obscure clues or trial-and-error frustration. This keeps the experience accessible and rewarding, offering just enough mental engagement to feel satisfying without ever becoming taxing. The puzzles follow a consistent rhythm that creates a gentle flow from one level to the next, making it an ideal game for short, contemplative sessions. Visually, the game captures the mood of exploration through bright, stylized environments that mix the tranquility of nature with the mystery of ancient architecture. The jungles are lush but orderly, with crisp geometric lines and subtle lighting that evoke both serenity and decay. The temples feel abandoned but not hostile, creating a world that is mysterious without being threatening. The art style doesn’t aim for realism but instead delivers a smooth, clean aesthetic that mirrors the game’s straightforward mechanics. The ambient soundtrack further enhances the tone, filling each level with soft, echoing sounds and gentle melodies that encourage focus and calm. Together, these elements make Faraway: Jungle Escape as much about mood as it is about logic. The narrative, though minimal, gives a small layer of context to the player’s journey. You play as an explorer searching for your lost father, whose notes and messages are scattered throughout the temples. Each level hides a letter that gradually fills in the backstory, giving a light emotional thread to tie the gameplay together. It’s not a deep or dramatic story, but it adds enough motivation to make exploration feel purposeful. The focus remains on the puzzles themselves, and the story never overshadows the sense of quiet discovery that defines the game’s tone. However, while Faraway: Jungle Escape succeeds in its accessible design and tranquil atmosphere, it struggles with repetition and limited ambition. The puzzles, while clever in isolation, begin to feel similar after several levels, and the lack of new mechanics or twists reduces the sense of progression. The pacing is steady but predictable, and players looking for surprises or more complex challenges may find the experience too gentle. The game’s origins as a mobile title are also evident in its design and interface. The point-and-click controls work fine on PC, but they lack the tactile immediacy of touchscreen input. Some players may also notice the limited interactivity within the environment, as objects are mostly static aside from the puzzle elements, giving the world a slightly sterile feel despite its inviting visuals. In terms of length and value, Faraway: Jungle Escape offers a concise experience that can be completed in just a few hours. This brevity works well for players seeking a casual, self-contained adventure but may disappoint those expecting something more expansive. The replay value is modest—finding all the hidden letters or replaying levels for efficiency can extend playtime slightly, but once the puzzles are solved, there’s little reason to return. Still, within its short runtime, the game maintains a consistent level of polish and coherence that demonstrates careful craftsmanship, even if the scope remains small. Ultimately, Faraway: Jungle Escape is a pleasant and well-made puzzle game that prioritizes serenity and clarity over depth or innovation. It’s a perfect choice for players who enjoy calm, logic-based challenges and atmospheric settings. The game doesn’t try to be more than it is, and that simplicity is part of its charm. While its mobile roots and repetitive structure keep it from reaching the heights of more ambitious puzzle titles, its balance of accessibility, aesthetic appeal, and gentle pacing make it a relaxing journey worth taking. It’s not an escape filled with danger or adrenaline, but one that offers peace, reflection, and the quiet satisfaction of solving something ancient and beautiful. Rating: 5/10
和前作比,一些笔记相对好找了 第20关最后开门的楼梯有bug,会卡在第一节上不去,退出重进也没用,必须删档重开才行
не одного достижения нет в первые за всю мою историю
As much as I like Pine Studio's other games, this entry is really buggy and was not fully tested. Achievements do not trigger on the latest build which requires users to pull a previous build in order to get them to trigger (if you're into that kind of thing). I was able to get out of bounds in a few spots and one puzzle flipped me upside down when trying to go back into it. I do like the puzzles and the vision, but some of the quality issues really bring it down for me.
