If the thought of robot cowboys fighting off hordes of skeletons with guns and spells appeals to you, then get this game. It's a blast! If you are a fan of Hell Divers 2 then I recommend giving this one a shot. It's less grounded than Hell Divers and the gameplay feels a little more fast paced. I've heard it compared to Deep Rock Galactic but I have not had the chance to play DRG yet. Each weapon has a different feel to them and they all manage to be usable even on the highest difficulties. The spell system is very fun with many spells having interactions to encourage team play or synergizing your spell build. The Joker system allows for a good amount of variety in builds. Jokers are this games versions of perks and they range from damage boosts and speed boosts, to more fun things like duck shoes or grunt birthday style confetti explosions upon landing head shots. Along with the jokers you equip, you can also collect them during your runs. Almost all jokers can stack leading to very powerful and fun builds. There are a lot of challenges and unlocks to pursue which give good reason to experiment with every weapon and spell. The map variety is also good but only the objectives and certain spawns will be randomized. This can be both good and bad. Navigation is easy once you learn the map but for those looking for a completely different map each time you may start to get a little tired of seeing the same locations repeatedly. Over all I haven't had an issue with this and a counter argument to this is that even if the maps were procedurally generated each time you would probably start to see some very similar maps after each run. These crafted maps also allow for more designed encounter areas and each map has their own quests and secrets to discover. Over all this is a very good games in early access and I am excited to see its further development. At the time of writing this we will be receiving the Frost Burn update tomorrow which will add melee weapons, a new spell type, more jokers, a new map, new quests, and I think a new enemy faction. I highly recommend this game and it goes for a decent price for what it offers.
