I love the other games of the franchise, but this piece of ♥♥♥♥ was not fun. Forced myself to play through the main story and quit as abruptly as it ended. The ending was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid because my companion could resist radiation, but "You have to write your own story" ♥♥♥♥ YOU Fawkes you useless stupid supermutant piece of ♥♥♥♥ filth, I should have done what the president of the enclave asked of me just to kill that selfish ♥♥♥♥. Will not be touching this game even with a stick covered in ♥♥♥♥ because the stick is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ enough.
I liked Fallout 3. but after thinking, I have some issues with it. Honestly, it is an entertaining game. The world is expansive and the story is interesting. It's questlines are many and extensive. And the game runs well on a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The bleak and depressing wasteland is well executed. The big problem that I have with Fallout 3 is that it's trying too hard for what it is. It is too ambitious for the first third-person open world Fallout game. When you add the DLC into the equation, it tends to feel half-baked, where there's more and more than it actually needs to be a quality title. I see it like an otherwise 'good' album with too many tracks than is actually necessary, DLC added or not. Operation Anchorage is okay, but boring. Two themes I found in the DLC: They're kind of boring in that you walk around and shoot things, but the items you find are great for early-game troubles. The Pitt has a Mad Max-like premise, and could be the one I vouch for the most based on gameplay. Broken Steel is just the Brotherhood being up their own asses like usual, just like the Enclave they fight against. Point Lookout lends better to storytelling, but it plays like Left 4 Dead. By god, I hated Mothership Zeta. Just, why? This was the glitchiest, blandest, and most annoying part of a game I have probably ever played. Neat concept maybe, but was this needed in a Fallout game? That DLC feels like a video game that a person in The Sims would play. And I'm beating a dead horse, but it crashes A LOT. This is one of the buggiest video games I have sat through! When it glitches out, it's nothing fun either, it just stops. Putting 50 hours into a game when it crashes every 20 minutes is grueling. At the very least, Oblivion breaks in amusing ways. I also had several moments when quests would become stuck, for one reason or another. Frustrating.. I understand that many people regard it as a classic, and might prefer it to the later Fallout titles, but I don't feel the same. I would still recommend it to anyone that's a fan of this genre, if only to play all of the Fallout series. It has it's merits and good moments, but it's bloated without reason, with missing attention to quality in my opinion.
I have a few things to say about this game, overall, a great RPG that you'll probably be exploring every nook and cranny of the Washington D.C wasteland. The world in this game is great, and I honestly prefer it over New Vegas. Gunplay is good, its really just New Vegas without iron sights, and some of its RPG elements are a little lackluster, but overall its got a good leveling system, perks, ETC. The real problem I have is the Technical Problems on current Windows 10/11. This game runs HORRID on the latest updates. Some mods fix it, Such as Fallout 3 Tick Fix and Anniversary Patcher. I had this dumb problem that I spent hours trying to fix where the radio would stutter after the quest "The Waters of Life" and it made the game unplayable for a while. I had to convert EVERY single song on the radio from .ogg to .wav then package them back up in a .bsa. I don't see why Bethesda will continue updating Fallout 76 and Starfield (Which hardly anybody plays compared to their older games) and not fix the games the players love. So good game, bad technical issues
