Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition

Is Fallout 3 a good game? Yes, it is. Is New Vegas a better game? Absolutely, but it is still worth playing. I will give Fallout 3 the edge when it comes to the beginning it is really heartfelt and probably one of the best game beginnings of all time.

Can't believe I took so long to start this one. After watching the Fallout series, I had to finally give it a try and I'm absolutely loving it. The game mechanics have been solid so far and the story has been interesting with some great surprise voice appearances. (I won't ruin them for anyone getting a late start.) Also, as old as the game is, I think the graphics are holding up pretty well. It's just been a great overall experience. One thing to note, make sure you check the loose files (or whatever the term was) in the launcher settings to load to DLC content.

Not that much of a wowing game but good enough for what it is. I found the RPG elements of the game to be somewhat lackluster especially when it comes to the choices you can make in the game. I never feel like I have many different options in regards to the paths I want to take. This is especially present within the main storyline that for the most part only present two main paths regarding good and bad which feels very one dimensional. Also the storyline could have used some more depth narratively. Most of the time the characters surrounding me were pretty boring and surface level which made it hard for me to even develop an emotional bond with them. Idk the world is visually pretty impressive and is one of the better open worlds in the franchise but the lack of diverse choices kinda kills the momentum for me. 7.5/10.

An absolute classic game, among the likes of Final Fantasy 7 and Super Mario, if you ask me. The absolute perfect entry into the franchise, even though it being Fallout 3, not 1 or 2. An impeccable story, amazing gameplay, and enough content to sink hundreds of hours into. It's also a game that my 16 hours on Steam doesn't fully represent, since I played it on Xbox back in the day when it first came out, again on Series X, and a third time here now on Steam. A title that every RPG enthusiast should have in their library, because it's maybe the best game to come from the 2000s, in my opinion. Nearly 20 years later and the game has aged gracefully.
