A vivere.
Developer Dropped This Game 4 Years Ago Now Finally they Remove it from Steam, everything else would be "not fair" (See Quote of the News) https://steamcommunity.com/app/1207840/eventcomments/807972271755944011
ExtraGalactica - Upcoming Steam Store Removal Dearest Community Members, We wish that we could be writing to you with better news. Unfortunately, we will have to remove ExtraGalactica from the Steam store as the project is cancelled and development is unable to continue moving forward. Copies of the game that have already been purchased WILL remain in your Steam Library so you will not lose access to what has already been released up until now. As some of you may know, we have always developed this game in our free time and with no funding. We've gone through many phases over the years, but we constantly tried to keep our hands on the wheel and our foot on the gas pedal. We built this because WE WANTED it. With a team of only 2-3 people at any given time, the ups and downs of our individual lives have always been a big factor in our ability to put meaningful dev hours into the project. A lot has changed in our lives in the years we've worked on this. Between just the few people on our team we've had kids, gotten married, gotten divorced, had cross-country moves, career changes, buried our parents - things that have had us all put down the project at one time or another. Through all of that, we've landed past the point of no return. There is no longer a feasible pathway for us to finish this game and it would be unfair to players (present and future) if we left the store page up with the current offering of content knowing there could never be more. Before we go, we wanted to take a moment to thank you so much for all of the support over the years. Whether you were in livestream with us while we held public development sessions, or maybe we got to watch YOU play on your own stream, or maybe you just played the game alone - we appreciate your love, your encouragement, and your feedback long the way. Thank you. - The ExtraGalactica Dev Team
Its The Typicall Early Access Scam Shema - Release Game in Early Access - make 2-3 Months Updates - Drop it - Removal Announcement after Years Untouched Future (Maybe!!!) - Because of renewal Interesst Game stay on steam - 1-3 updates - game abandoned again - another removal announcement or silent removal. --- Proof Me Wrong, Please!
ExtraGalactica is already a fantastic shoot ’em up promising to be so much more. It’s a great game to pick up and play without having to think too deeply — in fact, I recommend against it, as the storyline is far too confusing to follow anyway. Instead, let ExtraGalactica show you how amazing randomly generated levels can be in this genre in a learn as you go setting that will transport you right back to the 80s — if the stellar Synthwave music doesn’t do that for you already, that is. You may need a dozen or so rounds to really get a feel for the gameplay, but once you do, it’s easy enough to waste hours blasting baddies. If you feel brain-drained and need a mental break but still want a fantastic distraction to play the day away, you’d be hard-pressed to find something more dynamic and exciting than ExtraGalactica.
ExtraGalactica is a blast from the past with exciting new twist, clever mechanics, and a stylized look that will blow your mind. With game play that's tough from the get-go, you really feel yourself progressing as you learn and master what the game contains. This creates a sense of addiction. Getting to that next wave, beating that boss that poops on your runs, seeing that high score climb. ExtraGalactica takes a genre you thought you'd seen all of and breaths new life into it, bringing arcade action right to your PC that you'd think is only possible from a cabinet in a dimly lit pizza joint.
Let me start by saying this is the first game of its kind that iv played. The visuals are amazing. once getting the hang of things it was very easy to lose track of time and play for hours, i was like a kid at the arcade again. I love the music. I find the game play quite challenging but it keeps me wanting to play to beat my last score. I found it fun to take turns with my buddy for some friendly competition. only suggestion id make is adding support for a second player on same PC with separate scores.
I remember when my buddy showed me his game for the first time. I've never been so onboard. If you like a game that has bosses that can kick your ass, this is a good one. I still dont get how to beat some of them. But it's fun none the less, until the normal enemies start shooting at you. Just dont get hit idiots and you'll come out A-OK
I have been attempting to defend against the enemy since i was a boy in 1943 at The Battle of Midway. I spent my teens on the front line with team thunder force in shiny M.U.S.H armour. Several years later, I helped one of the most powerful men in the small island nation of Horai, Tenro Horai, to discovered an incredible magical power deep within the ground that gave him god-like strength, More recently I have helped smaller army's defend against Vortex attacks and Beat Hazzards. I was always told things would get harder with age it seems they were correct. This is a fantastic little shooter with a promising future as long as we can form a devoted army to help defend against the wave of enemies. **I received the game via a twitter giveaway but views are my own
ExtraGalactica is a perpertual Early Access 2D retro pixel Galaga ripoff arcade shoot 'em up/bullet hell game. There's a few bells and whistles but no particularly amazing redeeming features here to differentiate this noticeably from just running an emulator and playing Raiden or 1942. The game features somewhat of a joke theme as the words "pew pew" appear next to your ship as you shoot. That's what shoot 'em ups needed to save their genre. The game has been in Early Access since Feb 2022 and while it's still getting updates, it's deep in Development Hell. It hasn't yet hit the developers somewhat bizarrely generous 3 year deadline to complete the game, but there's no reasonable expectation that this will ever be completed. Into the third year of development there's still no sign of the single player campaign or other bare bones basic minimum requirement features. Whether the developer lacks the time, funds, or skill/talent required to complete a video game isn't really something gamers should be expected to accept as an excuse. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's an ugly screen filter meant to make the game look even more obsolete... like the game looks bad enough already, but they actually went out of their way to make it look worse. There's no way to turn this off. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. PC gamers will be insulted by the presence of console peasant children's toy controller prompts and a splashscreen demanding that a console peasant childrens toy should be used to play the game, despite this being on PC. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're developing for, and must never dictate to gamers how a game is to be played. The game does however work with keyboard and you can change the controls a little. Unethically, the developer sold keys to this unfinished Early Access game into cheap, nasty game bundles, where they knew it would be advertised and sold as a complete game. This seems to have been done in an attempt to mislead gamers into buying a knowingly faulty, defective and incomplete product. When a developer does this for a game they have zero practical intention of completing, this is essentially a scam, an intention to get paid for a broken/unfinished product. Often this is done as an exit strategy, as the developer takes the money and runs. No refunds have been given yet, the developer kept all the money they took from gamers so far, but it's too early to tell for sure if it was an exit strategy or just a greedy attempt to mislead gamers and cash in on an incomplete product. Either way, gamers should be warned when developers behave unethically.
I enjoyed the visual style of the game, as well as the soundtrack. Gameplay is evolving but overall was very smooth to control and shoot. I would like there to be a little more explanation as to what the various powerups and such do. Learning the rules of the elements took some trial and error. The game was stable, with no crashes. I was not able to find a way to close or quit the game such as using the escape key though.
