About
Explore Dreams: Dreamcore is an exploration and mystery experience that transports players to a surreal universe filled with nostalgic landscapes, enigmas, and intriguing challenges. With a design inspired by aesthetics like Dreamcore, Vaporwave, and Nostalgicore, the game offers an immersive environment and unique gameplay combining platforming, adventure, and suspense.
Journey through a series of fascinating maps and uncover hidden VHS cassette tapes, each playing 3D music that guides your exploration. As you collect the tapes, you unlock the gates blocking the exits of each map, allowing you to progress to new levels. The use of the "eye" is essential for revealing invisible platforms and hidden enemies, which can damage the player upon contact.
Each map presents a unique challenge with platforms and entities that make every level unforgettable. The constant feeling of being watched adds an extra layer of tension and suspense to your journey.
Available Maps:
Home - A passage with magical mushrooms and a mysterious red door + A surreal path among colossal clouds and a large dark door.
Poolrooms Pink - A pink version of the enigmatic Poolrooms.
Poolrooms - The classic submerged and minimalist environment.
Nostalgicore House - An isolated house in a field, with a rainbow in the background.
Strange - A bucolic setting with a large tree and a morning sun.
Vaporwave - A landscape encapsulating the vaporwave aesthetic with vibrant colors and retro elements.
From the main menu, access "Extras" to play Free Mode, exploring maps at your own pace without mission objectives. Perfect for admiring the environments, discovering hidden secrets, and getting lost in the game’s dreamlike atmosphere.
Compete against other players in an exciting online challenge! Customize your character and participate in matches where the goal is to locate a special chest on the map and deliver it to the designated shop. But beware: other players can steal your chest by passing through you, creating moments of pure adrenaline.
Multiplayer Details:
Exclusive Enemy: SCP-173 will chase only the player carrying the chest, identified by a special backpack.
Rewards: Earn coins by completing objectives and use them to purchase emotes, character upgrades, and improvements for the campaign mode.
Character Customization: Avatar customization is available within the "Multiplayer" button on the main menu.
The feeling of constantly being watched by entities adds a suspenseful atmosphere. You never know when an enemy might be hiding or when a new element of the scenery might appear. The "eye" mechanic encourages detailed exploration and creates moments of pure tension as you navigate the maps.
Immersive Environment: Detailed scenarios blending nostalgia and surrealism.
3D Soundtrack: Experience dynamic music that enhances immersion.
Diverse Modes: Choose between adventure, casual exploration, and competitive challenges.

I'm thumbing this game up because I love the idea of it but it has issues and I think with some updates this game can be really fun. First problem is the controls show up only for a short time and if you don't pay attention and quickly memorize them you will be lost and frustrated. You have to hit "V" to see secret invisible platforms and monsters blocking cassette tapes that you need to collect. It's vital to know this in the first levels. But by the time you get to the second pool rooms you only rarely need to use "V" if you see a cassette and can't get to the cassette as far as I can tell. There is a sprint but it's not on a toggle and it runs out which is frustrating because there's a lot of walking thru a massive maze of poolrooms and it just gets annoying to hold down the sprint. Then the cassettes will show up at places you have already been which personally I found frustrating and is making the level take too long, especially when there is nothing visually interesting about the poolrooms so it can be a little boring to take so long. I do really like the nice jump height tho. I tried using a PS5 controller because it's easier on my hand when you have to continually hold down sprint but the camera is kind of wonky and glitchy even if you turn up the mouse sensitivity. Audio clues are crucial for finding cassettes in the poolrooms. I really think all the cassettes (29 of them!) should show up at once, it's too much to go around in circles to places you have already been to see if a cassette will show up. I played for two hours and only got a handful of cassettes. I will probably keep playing some other day because I would like to see the Vaporwave level but I have to give my hand a break from holding down sprint. It's a cool game tho and totally the kind of game I love, just needs a little help.

seriously a rubbish mess, the whole game is just a mess, I wouldn't recommend it at all, the game also has a lot of bugs from pop ins and more. like concept of it is okay but the whole game is seriously really bad, even looking is strange also why is this game a platformer when it comes to the single play aspect of the game, and also the music is very loud like seriously there isn't even an option to toggle the sound in the game, its actually in my top worst list of backroom style games I've played.
As an individual who finds Dreamcore & Liminal spaces captivating, i always look every now and then on the store for those type of games. i stumbled across this one through the search bar. I have no clue if i'm the only one that's played this game so far, but it's really good if you're looking for an uncanny dream like exploration game. I'm also a content creator so i might even do a video on this game showcasing how spot on the developer has emulated a dream like atmosphere in this game. I will mention as a little bit of criticism that the game could have mad potential if it had some extra content. For example, in the VHS collection mode, having other obectives (puzzles to reach the VHS tapes) rather than always having to rely on the "eye" mechanic all the time. I haven't played the game fully yet so this criticism could be null in void later on. Mad cool concept for a liminal/dreamcore genre game though!
Of course it's quite buggy but if you really enjoy backrooms/liminalspace/dreamcore/vaporwave or any other similar aesthetics like me then you will definitely like the game despite the fact that sometimes it is difficult to play. It wasn't even boring to play along so I suppose if you have friends who are into mentioned things then I recommend you to give it a try.
ok i FINALLY! played the game hear is my thoughts in this review of mine: mmm... where to start... oh ok how about this ok this one is NITHER a PRO or CON so i know the game is still a newborn baby but and option to add friends (and take away friends if there no longer active or like being with you...) and a way to open a chat box to text out messages to everyone or just friends will be good because idk i dont think its just me but maybe it is... but my personal self likes to stay more on the private side of things so even if the voice chat worked ( im not shure if it did or not but no one ever talked back so i just thought it was broke...) but ya i dont feel comfy talking to people i dont know with my real voice... ANYWAY.... hears some pros: [✔]. all the maps are super fun to look around and just do the heck you want in [✔]. the 3rd eye mechanic is cool [✔]. i like the music every odd strange track [✔]. love the different game modes [✔]. there is no in game payments earn the virtual currency yourself by doing minigames [✔]. minigames are interesting only played like 2 so far the SCP one is cool where you take ? crates back to a shop stand [✔]. free-play mode to just do whatever you want to [✔]. flying in the frutiger aero places and chilling on the hot air balloons hears the cons...: [X]. every liminal pool rooms picture / vaporwave / frutiger aero you name it i ever seen i always wanted to go swim in the water there it will be so awesome!.... well i still cant! i wish there was a button or option to interact with the water so you can start swimming! i will love to swim in the deep waters of these places with the other fellow people who play this game!.... [X]. more ways to customize your avatar [x]. i know its still early in the game now but adding floaty dolphins/orcas/manta ray and tropical fish in or out of bubbles and in ocean around the frutiger aero and places will be a cool site to see [X]. not enough maps... (cant blame it to harsh hear again new game...) [X]. more fun minigames to earn money maybe like even like 2v2 or whatever number with friends who wanna play [X]. more money earned from the minigames you do [X]. a pet store option adding pets to customize and to follow and help you do things or play fetch with it on any map like you can tell it to and help sniff out the tapes when you follow them or other helpful actions to tell them to do and also petting them the pets dont have to be limited to cats or dogs nether so hear is a few i thought of off the top my head: small tropical fish or porpoise like creatures sharks / manta ray in floating bubbles to follow around / butterflies ladybugs birds like seabirds like penguins maybe even like a winged eye a baloon with a :) face drawn on it a little microsoft messenger avatar guy icon a floaty smiley face a walking sunflower or daisy with one big eye in the middle of it maybe other non aggressive and violent SCP creatures to follow you tese are just some ideas... [X]. and urban neighborhood map (or live in the frutiger aero city) where players can pick any vacant house they choose so we can be neighbors / by and decorate are yards and houses with things at the store and going through the little white fence gates so we can go and look at OTHER peoples houses or friend houses and play games in the yar and explore the urban neighborhood at leisure [X]. maybe add like skate boards surf boards bikes or scooters or something like we can use in some maps and areas to get around a bit faster than running [X]. record game play with a in game recorder so you can make your own tapes that you can get so when you can you can put down any tv in your house and people can pick and choose what home movies they want to see on your tv from your movie cabinet that you made (you can when you make your house place movies on the shelf you will like others to see...) then put it in a vhs player so you can then sit on the couch or floor to then start watching your movies with friends [X].just for fun put a optional house item thats like a retro looking computer or old console so when we sit down to play it in the house there will be different games we can buy for the computer or console and one other person can join in if there are multiplayer games on your computer / console ( i think this will be for fun you wont earn money from doing these games in my opinion...) [X]. just similar to the top option board games to put in your house so you can play like cards or dice maybe even other bored games (no money will be earned just for fun in these games to...) my conclusion its a pretty solid game for what it is now but needs more substance and things to it so i can be more invested and engaged and wanting to be entuned in this world... thanks for the great game i will still play but come back more often come back when there is more updates! thank you!
