Evil Heart Fever

I like the game and it has me curious enough to keep trying. Very much a "one more try" game! I have to give the Thumb's Down because the background of the game is an infinitely swirling spiral. It is insane and I can't look at it for long before it makes my physically ill. Dev: Get rid of the spinning background, or let us change it in the settings. Until this is fixed, solid Thumb's Down - it hurts to play and is literally injuring my eyes.

A really fun multidirectional-shooter-roguelike mashup, and an amazing product for a dollar. The theme feels nice and cohesive, blending Lovecraftian and religious elements for both enemies and the player itself, which works surprisingly well. The game looks alright — nothing groundbreaking, but it's not a hassle to look at. There are a few flaws, such as some bosses being ridiculously hard to defeat, requiring either luck or a fully upgraded character to stand a chance. Also, the library of upgrade items, while decent at around 35-40, could benefit from a bit more variety. Overall, still a solid game for the price.
