It's going to be a neutral review as again I was equally annoyed and pleased by this sweet but at the same time kinda silly otome. [i]Enchanted in the Moonlight - Miyabi, Kyoga & Samon -[/i] is a fantasy adventure, otome visual novel developed by UNICO INC. and published by Voltage Inc. You take on the role of a 25 year-old woman (whose name is customizable) who lives at her family's shrine and works as a librarian. One night, there's a blood (a.k.a. red) moon, which suddenly awakens your powers (although you're not yet aware of this). The next day, various incidents happen from the time you go to work until after you return home. Later that night, you're attacked, but before any harm can befall you, 5 mysterious guys come to your rescue and chase away the attackers. Then they introduce themselves as ayakashi spirits (basically, Japanese supernatural beings) and explain that you have the once-in-a-thousand-years special blood that can make an ayakashi stronger. In order to protect you, they explain that you have to choose one of them as your partner and make a contract with them. In other words, you have to be at the mercy and protection of one of these ayakashi. I'll end my story synopsis here to avoid spoilers and all that. As for the gameplay, after playing through the prologue, you're given the option of one of three guys to romance: Miyabi (the kitsune fox), Kyoga (the okami wolf), or Samon (the zashiki-warashi, house spirit). They're heads of their respective ayakashi clans. Of course, there are more guys to romance, but they're in the other part of this two part visual novel series: [i]Enchanted in the Moonlight - Kiryu, Chikage & Yukinojo -[/i]. (I plan on playing and reviewing their routes as well at a later date. XD) Each guy's route contains the following stories spanning across three seasons. In the first season, there's the main story, main story from the guy's POV, epilogue, sequel, sequel from the guy's POV, and sequel epilogue. In the second season, there's the prologue, love nest for two, love nest for two epilogue, seeds of doubt in love's garden, and seeds of doubt in love's garden epilogue. In the third (final season), there's the prologue, thorns in the bouquet, and thorns in the bouquet epilogue. Only in Miyabi's route, there's an additional story in the third season - a twisted wedding arch. In addition, there are lots of CGs as well as a varied soundtrack although no voice acting or achievements (Steam or in-game). Now that I've gone over the story and gameplay, I'll move onto my critique. [i]Enchanted in the Moonlight - Miyabi, Kyoga & Samon -[/i] is the first visual novel published by Voltage that I played, so I experienced this story without having any idea of what to expect. Without wasting time, I'll jump into my thoughts on the story. I like the story premise. Although it isn't the most original (you're living a normal life until something extraordinary happens), I like how the MC's life is suddenly turned upside down and she's getting to experience all these supernatural events that she never thought would happen. I imagined what it would be like to be in the MC's shoes, and I'd certainly be shocked, too. lol Once you've chosen a route, then you get to experience numerous adventures and even humorous moments with your chosen guy. The main story has the same basic idea, where a specific enemy is after the MC for her blood and powers, and her chosen guy has to protect and save her. The other stories narrate the trials that the MC and her guy have to go through, which can range from the ayakashi clan accepting the MC (since the MC is human and all) to love triangles. Although Miyabi's route is the only one where it's obvious that the MC and Miyabi end up getting married, it can be implied that in the other routes, the MC will get married to her chosen guy. Oh, and before I forget, in a lot of these stories, there are both happy and good endings, so no bad endings. XD There's plenty of content in all of the routes, and I enjoyed getting to experience all of the guys' (well, the ones that were available) stories. It isn't cut-and-paste where the stories are the same, regardless of which guy the MC chooses. Thus, there are lots of different stories, which I liked a lot. [spoiler](I should note, though, that there are a few attempted rape scenes although no actual rape.)[/spoiler] As for the individual guys and routes, I admit that this may end up coming down to personal preferences. I'll try not to get too wordy, so here goes. With Miyabi, [spoiler]he was initially my least favorite because he just wants to get in the MC's pants. There's a lot of touching and sex, and the MC just seems to go along with it. However, it's later revealed that Miyabi has a tragic past, and his emotional, tender side comes out, with the MC's help[/spoiler]. With Kyoga, [spoiler]his route is my favorite because I feel like his romance progression was the best and felt the most natural. Kyoga may come off as a guy who likes sexy women, and although the MC isn't like that (she's more of a plain Jane), Kyoga ends up loving her and he's quite the gentleman. In fact, it's the MC who ends up wanting to initiate sex[/spoiler]. As for Samon, [spoiler]I feel like he's the guy who would be the most natural one to go if I were placed in the MC's situation. I mean, if I were suddenly approached by strange men who told me that I had powers and that I had to choose one of them to protect me, I'd go to the guy who I know (rather than a stranger). However, his romance progression takes the longest to get to being hot and heated since Samon is even more of a gentleman than Kyoga[/spoiler]. Each guy has his positive and negative points, so this comes down to personal preferences in the end. In regards to the writing, I thought that the pacing was fine, for the most part. I noticed some grammatical errors, though, and in the guy's POV scenes, I observed that the English translation was different from the story counterpart. However, the stories themselves are understandable for a native English speaker. Regarding the art, the sprites are in the typical anime style, which feels appropriate for the story. The sprites are well drawn, and the CGs are especially pretty to gaze at. The backgrounds are pretty basic, but they are passable. Touching on the music, the tracks are varied, with your everyday life theme to the more danger-is-lurking one. I like that the tracks are varied, and they feel very appropriately placed in their respective scenes. Overall, would I recommend [i]Enchanted in the Moonlight - Miyabi, Kyoga & Samon -[/i]? If you're in the mood for a hot, spicy otome VN, then this is worth taking a look. I enjoyed all of the routes in spite of my personal preferences, and they're all worth playing and enjoying their stories. As for the asking price, I feel like it's worth it, as it took me around 20 hours to complete all of the stories for one guy's route. (Miyabi's route took a little longer since he has that additional story in season three.) EITM is one of Voltage Inc's older otome games, but it still holds up pretty well. If you're into supernatural/fantasy romances this is a good otome choice. However, be warned that there is a decent amount of ecchi scenes and dubcon/noncon (at least in Miyabi's route, I'm unfamiliar with the other boys) so if that's not your thing then it'd be best to avoid it. The game is ported from mobile and so far everything runs fine, I've only encountered a grammatical error once or twice and in Miyabi's POV his name is sometimes replaced with the kanji instead of Eng spelling. It's really not a big deal though.

I played two of the three routes and really enjoyed it! Very steamy and it's nice that is seems there are only good ending or happy ending options (no bad endings). I liked the story and it was a fun game!

Wouldn't recommend as Miyabi doesn't respect peoples boundaries and goes as far as basically commit sexual harassment every moment he gets towards the mc, bro let her decide and if shes obviously doesn't reciprocate then, ♥♥♥♥ off. Didn't feel comfortable continuing/trying out the other routes because of this.

Never played a voltage game so I was bracing for the worst. What I got was fine but I also bought it on sale, not sure I'd pick it up full price just based on my own tastes. It has the presentation of something like a budget dogenzaka VN (which I prefer to this), so not the best looking backgrounds, static sprites, slow scene transitions, no VA, etc. Despite external fps cap, I still felt like the game is trying to murder my computer somehow. Because this was on mobile, you'll find the beginning of chapters to open with a few redundant sentences under the assumption it's been a while since you played. I found this a little annoying as I was playing straight through but it's most egregious during the main story of any man. The epilogues, sequels, etc, feel a little less repetitive, or maybe I had simply gotten used to it by then. The protagonist has a good heart, has a job, and generally does stuff on her own and knows when to say no but she constantly apologises for things that aren't her fault and is also very plot dumb. Since the story revolves around her exchanging her body for protection, there's little she can physically do in order to facilitate the plot. That aside, she's not really in much peril for 99% of the content, of which there is A LOT. My playtime is actually low because I've only finished the main story and POV and first epilogues. There's still a staggering amount for me to go through. The three guys presented here are varying degrees annoying: Miyabi is a scumbag rapist, Kyoga is a stoic rapist (but only during a full moon), and Samon is a cuck in training. Due to the sheer amount of content, a lot of scenarios end up being typical but also resolve in strange and off putting ways. One example is the protag thinks she's fat so she starts exercising and dieting. The resolution to this is her nearly dying and then being berated by her man. Another example is protag's relationship is considered inauspicious to a village so her man decides they shouldn't touch each other even though they're sharing a bedroom and who is going to see them? Someone also repeatedly tries to kill her but she never brings it up. Still, the writing is swift without being anemic, events happen one after another, scenes change, etc. I liked the guy POV sections as it sort of redeems otherwise garbage men. If you're expecting an engrossing and epic narrative, you won't get it from this. But if you want some kind of slice of life boyfriend experience, it's good enough for what it is. If you intend to play this in japanese, be aware you'll have to play through it all over again because japanese uses its own save file, there is no mid-chapter language hot swapping.

This gotta be my favorite otome books so far ,miyabi story was really good along with the other two.... the story is nice and detailed but not boring and some moments are really sweet. 10/10 for me!
