Used to be 10/10 amazing, but sadly this game has fallen victim to Pay to Win. Do not buy.
Keep the new second generation ships coming, keep building on the game and I have no reason to not recommend.
The game is great but dealing with the Frontier fire walls is a pai n in the backside big enough to make you turn elsewhere for game play.
I hate having to sign into another third party to play a game. its a no from me dawg
Tldr: dont buy this game. it used to be decent they ruined it. Frontier website doesn't accept Gmail (hotmail worked). Creating ur account will likely put you over the return window. Excluding the one free option all ships cost premium currency (arx), you can farm it in game but you'll get about 100 per hour & all ships cost more than 10k. Base game will send you to dlc only planets for missions (it'll let you get all the way there then stop you shortly after breaking atmosphere. Played well enough on my steam deck, killer on the battery. I wanted to recommend a different space sim that resembles this one during its glory days but thats not allowed so I'll just say, there are thousands of space sim's out there & this one deserves a spot near the bottom of the list.
Elite: Boring.
Presentation: 8/10 Systems: 3/10 Fun: 7/10 Playability: 2/10 Would be a great game if it wasn't working so hard against itself. The problem is that you have to spend frustration as a currency to unlock the fun, and the frustration accounts for the vast majority of the time you spend in game while the fun seems like it's always on the horizon, perpetually out of reach.
I like this game, it's pretty fun... when your at your destination, doing the thing you actually wanted to be doing there. Pirate hunting is very fun once you get the swing of space combat, it opens up alot of skill and tactical awareness to the game along with knowing ships and what you can and cannot fight against. I'm still in the early game enjoying being rather poor with small to medium sized ships. So why the "not recommended" That's rather simple, and alot of the community seems split on this. Having to jump manually 30-100 sectors is more mind numbing than playing a cookie clicker game. I hate my "J" key now with a burning passion and speaking of burning passions, dont fly too close to the sun when you're having to navigate around it or UH OH lets drop you outta FTL and waste 15 seconds waiting for it to cool own. I get that surveying gives the player money, and that its a "profession", but honestly its so mind numbingly boring to fly around the sun, line up, hit "J" and then wait 10 seconds. only to repeat this again.... and again.... TLDR - The game's combat gameplay, wonderful for a space sim. Trading mechanics and living the merchant dreams, very fun. Living the idea of being a bounty hunter is great and rewarding. But the biggest drawback to myself and what i cannot overlook is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ jumps being so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slow and tedious.
Read all the reviews. This game is stupid hard to navigate in. Makes the game play slow when flying.
Don't try to play on patch day. They never can seem to get it right. EVER!
