A space sim first, a game second. This is a very slow game, focused on the space sim factor of piloting a ship. With game systems to build on that. Recommend
very good game does crash here and there but still solid game
My benchmaker for the space-sim genre. Fly for the galaxy, explore uncharted systems, plot merchants routes, mine for minerals, fight pirates or aliens, all of that and much more. It may be overwhelming for new players, because you have so much you could do, but also at the same time you will find yourself spend a lot of time doing nothing. They added some years back a fast-paced pvp mode, otherwise is a game that took it's time, but it gives a lot of emotions back.
Nice coming back to this on a different gaming system
Its like the old elite on the BBC but on steroids with lots more to see and do. Couple it with a vr headset and WOW! Watch the motion sickness though! Star trek have a screen so inertial compensation isnt an issue, When you have big windows and you are more part of the ship inertial compensation is a ♥♥♥♥♥!
it is very fun to play with my brother and dad!!!!
I love this game, I bought a stick, throttle, rudder pedals, and VR headset for it and there is nothing like it. It can be daunting to learn as the tutorials do not hold your hand but the community is there and it makes you feel connected to the game. There are endless resources on youtube and inara. After 289 hours over the course of a year and a half off and on I still feel new and there are systems I have not learned as I decided to focus on other gameplay loops. I didn't look up too many guides other than "how to" and mostly use in game tools. I would recommend joining a powerplay as wells as a squadron- imo a squadron is a must (Elite's version of a guild or clan). Powerplay is an in game faction system that gives you bonuses and there is a bunch of factions to choose from that will fit your gameplay loop you would like to do. I didn't leave the bubble until last week for the first time. (the bubble is occupied/explored space "near/around" our solar system!) Anyways highly recommend if you want a deep space sim game to play! Sound design: 10/10 seriously may be the best in any game I've played gameplay: 10/10 tutorials/new player onboard: 3/10 community: 10/10
