Warning: Asset Flip! "Elemental" is one of literally thousands of creatively bankrupt asset flips infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere.
This is one of those incredibly lazy cases of someone thinking they're a game developer because they stole some placeholder assets off the Unreal Marketplace and dumped them on a basic third person platformer game blueprint. Steam Direct lets you publish anything on Steam for $100. This game is a great example of why that's a terrible thing. This is an incredibly badly made platforming experience, full of jank, horrendously mismatched misused assets, incoherent design... it seems to have been knocked out in the space of a weekend and published as soon as the first successful project build completed. There's a co-op feature that's implemented even worse than the platforming is. So, "Elemental" is partially or completely made up of stock assets, "borrowed" from asset stores and free asset websites. Little, if anything in this game is the creation of the "developer". While there's no up front price for this asset flip, the other problem with asset flips is that when developers aren't capable of doing their job and creating high quality assets, it's also true they can't do any of the rest of the job of a game developer either. That's definitely true for "Elemental", and this kind of asset flipping never results in games that have quality or value for PC gamers. This game is fairly dated at 5 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. All other issues aside (any of which would disqualify this from being worth your time), this is a game that relies on other players for it to be viable, and because there's not enough players, it's not viable. I can't recommend anyone downloads this, it's basically dead.
Elemental?? More like Elementnah!
Güzel. :)
