Elden Ring: Nightreign is a lot like the original Elden Ring in a rougelite format. The best way I can describe it is as a massive punch to the privates ... if that's your kind of thing. Calling this game hard is an understatement. Even a basic enemy can kill you if you miss a dodge or two, and some of the bosses feel almost impossible when you first encounter them. Unlike the original game, though, Nightreign lets you suffer alongside your friends. Instead of raging alone, you can point the finger at them and blame them for your own shortcomings, which somehow makes the experience more enjoyable. I have a "never give up" personality, and this game constantly pushes that trait to its limits. At times it feels less like a game I play for fun and more like some kind of self-inflicted punishment that I keep coming back to. Despite all that, finally overcoming a challenge after countless failures is incredibly satisfying. If you enjoy brutally difficult games that test your patience, determination, and possibly your sanity, you'll probably have a great time with Elden Ring: Nightreign.
