This is 쓰레기.
This is 쓰레기.
Dux Solaris is an ambitious independent title developed and published by MidnightMelon Games that blends bullet-hell action, visual novel storytelling, science-fiction adventure, and educational themes into a single package. Set across the Solar System, the game follows Dux on a mission tied to the mysterious STELLAE, creating a narrative that combines cosmic exploration with personal encounters and high-intensity combat. Rather than focusing exclusively on one genre, the game attempts to deliver a multifaceted experience that mixes learning, storytelling, and arcade-style gameplay in a way that feels distinct from many other indie releases. The most immediately engaging aspect of Dux Solaris is its bullet-hell combat system. Battles demand quick reflexes and careful movement as players navigate through waves of enemy attacks while looking for opportunities to strike back. The challenge comes not only from surviving dense projectile patterns but also from learning enemy behaviors and adapting to increasingly demanding encounters. Fans of classic shoot-'em-ups and modern bullet-hell games will appreciate the emphasis on precision and timing, while newcomers may find the difficulty curve both exciting and occasionally unforgiving. Beyond the action, the game places a surprising amount of attention on its story and worldbuilding. The journey through different locations within the Solar System serves as more than a backdrop for combat. Each destination contributes to the game's broader themes of discovery, exploration, and mystery. The developers clearly wanted players to engage with the setting on a deeper level, incorporating elements inspired by real astronomy and planetary science. This educational component gives Dux Solaris a unique identity, as it encourages curiosity about space while still maintaining a fictional narrative filled with intrigue and adventure. Character interactions play a major role throughout the experience. The game includes visual novel-inspired dialogue sequences that expand the story and provide additional context for the events unfolding around Dux. These moments offer a contrast to the frantic combat sections, allowing players to become more invested in the characters and their relationships. The title also contains mature themes and erotic content that are integrated into the progression and storytelling. This aspect is clearly intended for a specific audience and may be one of the main attractions for players interested in adult-oriented visual novels. Those looking strictly for action gameplay may find these sequences less appealing, but they are undeniably a core part of the game's overall design. Visually, Dux Solaris embraces a colorful science-fiction aesthetic that highlights both its cosmic setting and character-driven moments. While it does not compete with high-budget productions in terms of technical sophistication, the artwork effectively communicates the game's personality. Planetary environments, space-themed imagery, and character illustrations help create a recognizable atmosphere that supports the narrative. The presentation succeeds in making the adventure feel larger in scope than what might typically be expected from a small indie project. As an Early Access release, the game naturally shows signs of being a work in progress. Certain systems could benefit from additional refinement, balancing, and expanded content. However, the foundation demonstrates a willingness to experiment with ideas that many developers would avoid combining. Bringing together educational astronomy concepts, bullet-hell mechanics, visual novel storytelling, and mature content is a risky creative choice, yet it gives Dux Solaris a memorable identity that stands apart from more conventional releases. Ultimately, Dux Solaris is a niche but fascinating project that succeeds through originality rather than broad appeal. Its mixture of fast-paced action, Solar System exploration, narrative depth, and adult themes creates an experience unlike most games in its category. While not every element reaches the same level of quality, the game's ambition and unique vision make it worth considering for players who enjoy experimental genre hybrids. Those interested in science-fiction stories, challenging bullet-hell gameplay, and character-focused narratives will likely find plenty to appreciate as the game continues to evolve through development. Rating: 6/10
A bit janky especially in the ui, menu and dialogue but overall solid gameplay, artstyle and a banger of a soundtrack make this definitely worth the 5 bucks
