Dust On Wheels is a modest, arcade-style driving game that tries to merge open-ended exploration with simple competitive racing, but ultimately delivers a very barebones experience that struggles to develop either side of that concept in a meaningful way. Developed and published by DIG Games, it drops players into a wide desert environment and gives them the freedom to race, roam, or simply drive without direction. The idea has potential—a lightweight sandbox racer with flexible pacing—but in execution, the game feels more like an early prototype than a fully realized product. The gameplay is divided into a few core modes, most notably standard races and a free-roam option. The racing mode is straightforward: compete against a small group of AI drivers across open terrain and aim to finish first. There are no complex rules, no intricate track designs, and no layered objectives—just a direct contest of speed. This makes the game immediately accessible, as players can jump in without needing to learn systems or mechanics. However, this simplicity also limits engagement. Races tend to feel repetitive, lacking the variety or tension that comes from more dynamic track design or advanced AI behavior. The free-roam mode expands the experience slightly by allowing players to explore a large desert map at their own pace. On paper, this is one of the game’s more appealing features, offering a sense of scale and freedom that contrasts with the structured races. In practice, though, the environment feels sparse and underdeveloped. There are few points of interest, no meaningful activities to discover, and little interaction with the world itself. Driving across the map can be relaxing for a short time, but without a sense of purpose or discovery, the novelty fades quickly. Driving mechanics are firmly rooted in arcade simplicity. Vehicles are easy to control, with forgiving handling that makes it easy for players of any skill level to get started. While this accessibility is a positive, it comes at the expense of depth. There is little nuance in how cars behave, and the absence of advanced mechanics—such as drifting systems, terrain-specific handling, or skill-based techniques—means that players have limited ways to improve beyond simply going faster. As a result, races often feel flat, with outcomes determined more by raw speed than by player skill or strategy. The game does offer a selection of different vehicles, but the differences between them are minimal. Without meaningful customization or upgrade systems, players are given few ways to tailor their experience or develop a sense of progression. This lack of growth contributes to a static feeling, where the gameplay remains largely unchanged from beginning to end. There is no strong incentive to experiment or invest time in mastering the mechanics, as the game does not reward deeper engagement. Visually, Dust On Wheels adopts a simple 3D style that emphasizes clarity over detail. The desert setting is consistent, but it lacks variation, and the overall presentation feels plain. Textures are basic, environmental features are limited, and the world does not convey a strong sense of place. While the game runs smoothly and is accessible on lower-end systems, this technical simplicity reinforces the impression that the experience is limited in scope. The environment functions as a backdrop rather than a fully realized world. Audio design follows the same minimalist approach. Engine sounds and ambient effects are present but lack depth, and there is little variation to keep the experience engaging over time. The absence of impactful audio cues reduces the sense of speed and intensity, making races feel less exciting than they could be. Like the visuals, the sound design fulfills its purpose but does not elevate the overall experience. Replay value is minimal, as the game offers little in the way of progression or variety. After completing a few races and exploring the map, players will have seen most of what the game has to offer. There are no substantial unlockables, evolving challenges, or alternative modes that significantly extend playtime. While it can serve as a brief distraction, it does not provide enough depth to sustain long-term interest. In the end, Dust On Wheels is a simple and accessible driving game that struggles to move beyond its basic premise. It offers a combination of racing and exploration, but neither element is developed enough to stand out. While it may appeal to players looking for a very low-commitment experience or those curious about minimalist indie titles, it lacks the depth, polish, and variety needed to leave a lasting impression. It is a functional but ultimately forgettable entry in the racing genre. Rating: 5/10

NEIN!
BGMのON/OFF設定あり。 車はバギー小、バギー大、SUVの3種。 カメラ位置の変更は不可。 長々と書いたがこれに205円(定価)出すくらいならコンビニでアイスクリームかお菓子でも買った方が良いと思う。
