Bad in General
I have played for 50 hours and every time I get eaten by a worn I have to rebuild everything. If I run to a base I die and I am not able to respawn anywhere else so I am stuck far from my base and I cant get there. So I have to rebuild everything again.
I absolutely cannot recommend this game. I would like to. The game itself is fun and the setting is great. Dune lovers will like it but I will not recommend it. This is one of those games where the scavengers and the sand worms are not your biggest threat. You want to know what the biggest threat in this game is? SERVER LAG!! That is right. I played through the ridiculously long tutorial. Then cleared out the entirety of the first area of the map. I was loving it. I had a base, a sand bike and enough water to keep me going. Then you get a mission telling you to move and build a new base in the second area. I packed up everything I had into the inventory on my bike and person. I even demolished my base so I wouldn't need to gather resources at the other end and I headed out to make my new base. On the way across the sand I caught the attention of a sandworm. It wasn't a problem as I had enough time to get to rocky ground. I started to veer right and then the server lagged out. By the time it stopped lagging out my bike had done a full 360 and I got killed by the worm and lost everything I had and now am expected to start over. F**k that. This game is a write off for me. I can handle losing my stuff in a game if it comes down to my skill at the game but if server lag can cause me to lose days worth of grinding, sorry, there are too many games out there for me to waste my time with this!!
Bless the Maker and all His Water. Bless the coming and going of Him. May His passing cleanse the world. May He keep the world for His people
This is a PvE game, which is fine if you are a PvE player, but if you want base building PvP then go play something else. They are lying when they say this game has PvP because what it has is completely meaningless and boring (it's centered around who can delete more spice by turning it in for quests). Literally any other PvP game will give you more of a sense of accomplishment than this game ever will. The endgame PvP loop in this game is a joke and the devs are crazy to think anything other. They lie to your face like they think you and me are stupid. This is a PvE game
100% recommend this game to anyone who even thinks it looks interesting. It will suck you in and enthrall you meaningfully through the end game which is better than ever and still evolving.
Great idea and the art and music are really great. There is a lot of story progression .. but from the very start the biggest fight is the Game UI and input ... maybe not designed for Keyboard and mouse ... or maybe just bad programming? The character and environment interaction are abysmal ... character can't even step over small ledges so you pretty much have to jump and leap all over the place and hope you don't get stuck on a ledge or mound that traps the character... really great in the middle of combat. Plus the Camera is your next worse enemy as it will decide to zoom in on banners and walls that may cross your line of sight so you can't see what your character is even doing in the middle of a fight. That and the way the game suddenly decides that forward is left and left is backward... tho only for those important seconds you're trying to navigate through a fight. This game has been out a while now and they are still breaking things and then fixing things and then breaking them again. Support is really poor... sure it maybe cause they broke something but generally if you lose anything due to that they will just tell you tough. They can't verify loses so can't reimburse anything ... if that was an issue then maybe log things better ?! Other games manage to... or just decide that it's better to make players happy when they have suffered due to development misteps ?! Great game idea ... very poor execution.
I have really enjoyed this game. The only thing I didn't like was PVP. Solo mains playing mainly PVE (like me) are basically used by the developers as canon fodder for the PVP players. !! WARNING !! Currently the game wont launch for me and many other players. A patch is badly needed but funco hasn't even acknowledged the widespread problem. So until then, my review stays negative,
