DUCKS is a very simple little clicker game that is basically all about collecting as many cute ducks as I can. I click, collect ducks and slowly build up a bigger collection, with different ducks having different rarities. It is not trying to be a complicated idle game with huge upgrade trees or loads of systems. The whole idea is much more straightforward than that, and I think the simple approach works when I just want something small that I can leave running and check every now and then. The collecting is easily the best part for me. There are different rarities to chase, along with seasonal ducks and ducks that can only appear during certain periods. That gives the collection a little bit of urgency because I know some things will not always be available. I also like that there are crafting and exchange systems, so the game is not completely limited to clicking and waiting. Being able to trade ducks and manage the collection gives the simple idea a little more purpose. The presentation is cute and fits the game perfectly. The ducks are colourful, silly and deliberately simple, which makes the whole thing feel more like a little collection of digital toys than a serious game. I also like that the developers specifically say the ducks were made by them or their artist friends rather than using AI as part of the process. That gives the collection a bit more personality because the individual ducks feel like they were actually designed for the game instead of just being endless variations of the same thing. The biggest problem for me is that there is not much actual gameplay underneath the collecting. Once I understand the basic loop, I am mostly waiting for ducks, clicking and checking what I have collected. The rarity system gives me something to chase, but it does not completely solve the lack of depth. I can see myself enjoying it for a while, especially when I am trying to build up the collection, but I do not think there is enough here to keep me actively playing for long sessions. It works much better as something I have open in the background. The trading side is also something I have mixed feelings about. I like having the option to exchange ducks and use the Steam inventory, but it also makes the collection feel more focused on owning rare items than actually playing a game. That is not necessarily a bad thing because collecting is clearly the point, but it means the value of the experience depends heavily on how much I enjoy chasing different ducks. I would have liked a few more proper idle mechanics or small activities to give me something to do between collecting them. Overall, DUCKS is exactly the kind of tiny free game I can understand enjoying in short bursts. I like the cute presentation, rarity system, seasonal ducks, crafting and collecting, and I appreciate that the basic game does not need to be complicated to be entertaining. At the same time, the gameplay is extremely limited and there is not enough progression for me to treat it like a deeper idle game. For me, it works best as a casual collection game that I can check occasionally rather than something I would sit down and play for hours. It has charm, but the simplicity keeps it from reaching the higher ratings. Rating: 6.7/10

A Silly Idea That Quickly Loses Its Quack
DUCKS is one of those indie games that catches your attention with a funny premise and simple charm, but once you start playing, it’s clear that the concept alone isn’t enough to keep it afloat. It’s a quirky, small-scale project where you control ducks in chaotic environments, supposedly mixing humor, physics, and casual action. Unfortunately, while the idea sounds fun, the execution waddles awkwardly between amusing and outright broken. On paper, DUCKS should be an easy sell: funny animals, silly chaos, light entertainment. There’s a brief novelty when you first load in and see flocks of ducks moving, colliding, or doing ridiculous things. The physics interactions can be unintentionally hilarious at times, especially if you enjoy the unpredictability of low-budget indie experiments. But after just a few minutes, the charm fades. The gameplay is aimless, you move, bump into things, and… that’s about it. There’s no real structure, challenge, or sense of progression. Controls are clumsy, camera movement feels stiff, and collisions often behave inconsistently. What starts as lighthearted fun quickly turns into frustration as you fight against the mechanics more than the game itself. Visually, DUCKS looks passable for a small indie project. The environments are simple, and the ducks themselves are amusingly modeled, but there’s little detail or animation polish. The soundtrack and sound effects are repetitive, though the quacking is at least on-brand. The biggest issue is that there’s just not much game here, it feels more like an unfinished prototype than a proper release. For players looking for a quick laugh, DUCKS might provide a few minutes of chaotic amusement. But as a full experience, it lacks depth, direction, and technical stability. There’s a funny concept here that could have worked with more polish and purpose, but as it stands, this pond feels pretty shallow.
The Good:
Amusing concept and quirky sense of humor. Occasional funny physics moments when chaos strikes. Lighthearted, simple idea that could appeal to younger audiences.
The Bad:
Very limited gameplay, no goals, progression, or real challenge. Awkward controls and clunky camera movement. Feels unfinished, with repetitive sound and minimal polish.
Boring slop, just click 1000 times and leave the game, very boring and doesn't really provide anything
