extremely fun fighting mechanics. However the story while not being bad, lacks a proper narration. the overworld exploration is fun but very short, makes you kinda wish for a vaster variety of enemy encounters. The base game doesn't make you feel worth continuing after 15-20 hours, which is the base approximate time to finish the main story, however the real fun part begins in the Bitterblack expansion with extremely powerful monsters to fight and fun explorations Overall the game is really fun to play, the pawn system is something I really appreciated
This is the original Dragon's Dogma and still the greatest. I've played this game on XBox 360, XBox One, and finally ran out of momentum on Steam. My enjoyment of the game lasted quite a long time, and through multiple playthroughs. The game is hard, and it takes skill and sometimes cunning to get things to work the way you want them to. Battles are epic, from both your perspective and the enemy's. While a giant enemy can smash you to pieces in a strike or swallow you whole, you run the gamut between being a quick-and-agile death-by-a-thousand-cuts type enemy and being able to summon entire natural disasters on top of anyone who opposes you. Every fight is an absolute spectacle, and this game was created with just about everything attentive to the fighting. It will entertain you for a long time during and after. The toughness, unfortunately, is not only relegated to the fights, however. Autosaves are few in-between, so it's possible to be out exploring when suddenly you come across a bandit encampment, get overpowered, and lose an hour of progress. This game is the enemy of the forgetful saver, but luckily you can save just about any time from the pause menu. All-in-all, this is still a very satisfying game to play, and runs very light on modern hardware. If you have the time, enjoy this piece of gaming history, a hidden gem of its day, overshadowed by the release of Skyrim and forgotten for a long time. I hope you get at least as much enjoyment out of it as i did.
