Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen

One of my favourite games of all time, the freedom this game offers is unlike anything. You can kill God, become God, then on New Game + kill yourself and become God in your place and then do it all again and again, toiling against fate, but never able to escape your destiny. My personal favourite thing about it is your portcrystals carry into NG+, and the game even has a Speedrun Mode to encourage you to break it, and with portcrystals carrying over through NGs you can beat an entire playthrough of the game in under an hour with the right setup. Bitterblack Isle is the best chalice dungeon like content out there, mogging even Fromsoft while retaining the deep, japanese hack n slash RPG combat unique to DD. Shame DD2 sucked balls.

I remember playing this back in the day on Xbox 360 and loved it. All these years later I'm playing it again as DD2 was getting a little stale, and if I'm being honest the game is just better in every way compared to DD2. I started my playthrough on hard mode as I'm a big Dark Souls fan (who isn't) which is awesome and very very challenging especially Bitterblack Isle. I would imagine most people go back to this game for nostalgia just like I did, but I can't recommend it enough to new players. It's stupidly cheap these days so take the plunge, you won't regret it.

Dragon’s Dogma é aquele jogo que você começa pensando: “Vou só fazer umas missõezinhas rapidinho.” 8 horas depois: você está perdido no meio de uma floresta, sendo perseguido por 14 monstros, carregando 37 cogumelos, enquanto seu Pawn grita uma informação que você já ouviu 15 vezes. 😂 O jogo tem um sistema de combate simplesmente absurdo de bom. Você não apenas bate no monstro: você ESCALA O MONSTRO. Quer subir num Grifo? Sobe. Quer agarrar um Ogro? Vai na fé. Quer morrer porque resolveu escalar um inimigo 40 níveis acima? Também faz parte da experiência. 💀 E os Pawns? São praticamente seus funcionários. Você está enfrentando um dragão gigantesco e o Pawn: “A small monster!” MEU FILHO, ISSO TEM 30 METROS! 😭 A história também é aquele clássico japonês em que você começa como um cidadão normal e termina descobrindo que você, o dragão, o mundo e a própria existência estão envolvidos em um esquema filosófico que ninguém pediu para explicar direito. E o melhor: o jogo não tem medo de ser estranho. Você pode estar numa missão extremamente dramática e, cinco minutos depois, estar carregando um NPC pelo mapa porque decidiu que seria uma boa ideia jogar ele dentro de uma casa. As missões de escolta então… “Leve essa pessoa até o outro lado do mapa.” O jogo não fala que existem monstros, emboscadas, bandidos e uma estrada que parece ter sido desenhada por alguém que odeia jogadores. Mas tudo bem. 😭 Nota: 9/10 ⭐ É um RPG cheio de sistemas meio malucos, Pawns tagarelas, missões que parecem feitas para testar sua paciência e momentos completamente épicos. Mas quando você está no meio de uma batalha, sobe nas costas de um Grifo, começa a esfaquear a criatura enquanto ela voa pelos céus e seu Pawn começa a gritar… Você entende. É POR ISSO QUE JOGAMOS DRAGON’S DOGMA. 🐺 Wolves hunt in packs!

Until Enigma is removed from all capcom games I don't recommend any of them

Today, this game decided to stop working. I did troubleshooting for 2 hours but eventually got it fixed (the issue was the DirectX 9.0 incompatibility with my pc in case your game is also having trouble). I think every single wasted second of that troubleshooting was absolutely worth it. This game is addictive and, for the most part, runs perfectly well on my basic laptop. In the era of AAA open world slop, this game is a blast from the past and a surprising diamond in the rough.
