Capcom has turned this stuttery, clunky, sluggish game into something buttery smooth. It’s just a shame it came a little too late. Hopefully the expansion can turn the game’s reputation around.
One of the best games ever.
Yeah the story is simple. I say simple, but you have a lot of stuff to learn. I almost got teary eyed at the end. One thing the game does not tell you is that there is a secret way of getting almost another 3rd of the game's worth of content. What you do with this information is up to you. If you do the story without utilizing the 3rd act, then... well that's on you. Combat is fun - somewhere between skyrim and elden ring. But I didn't have any issues or bugs to speak of.
The game is fun and visually appealing and it will get you immersed for hours, but it has pros and cons (which are substantial). pros: -Fun gameplay with different classes(vocations) to choose from and like in monster hunter for example every class can feel like its a very different and fun experience. -Exploration is a huge part of this game and it's really rewarding. -I liked the systems before the update where you had limited fast travels it gave the game a more adventurous feel. ----------------------------------- cons: - The story isn't interesting enough and its not why you'd consider buying this game -the enemy variety is not that big and enemies can get repetitive if you intend to play the game for 30+ hours -A huge part of the game with a beautifully designed world with more exploration(5-7 more gameplay hours) and the most interesting enemies in this game and more bosses is for some reason locked behind a secret ending and if you are a casual gamer you'll never know it exists without the internet, which is a very weird decision by the developer . --------------------------------------------- overall the game is really beautiful but it looks like it was rushed (with the missing save slots on launch and low enemy variety) and some strange decisions were made . I'd recommend this game for purchase now especially with the dark arisen expansion releasing in less than a month

Just about as open world as a game gets. Nice upgrade from the previous game, which was already very good.
You don't have to play the first Dragon's Dogma to enjoy this game. It's fun. Great gameplay. One of my favorite RPG games of all time. Capcom did a great job!
This game is great in a lot of ways, but ultimately, its flawed storytelling is why I can’t recommend it. All of the quests require you to do things in very specific ways, ways that don’t really make a lot of sense. Other games would allow for multiple solutions, but with DD2 it’s like the designer said, “here’s the one way I think each quest should be done, let’s ignore everything else.” Add to that, that most if all the good parts you have to stumble on… Add to that, that it’s really easy to ruin a run accidentally… And the world feels “dead” most of the NPCs are just background. Sure, they say a few lines but they don’t ever really do anything. It’s not that the game is hard, it’s not. It’s that every quest requires such specific actions. You will not have a satisfying walkthrough unless you use guides because then you’ll miss everything… but using guides, it feels like you’re acting out a script for the pleasure of the game designer. It should be their job to entertain you not the other way around. My advice for the studio: Before your next release, every member of the design team must watch a family member playthrough the game… BUT you’re not allowed to give them ANY hints or advice. Besides that, the engine is fine, the combat is lively, and the graphics are just below top-notch. This should be a fantastic game… just the way the storyline is so forced, it’s not fun.
