Dragons Dogma 2, like the previous one, is a perfect game if you love combat that requires more than just dodge rolling and whacking an enemy over and over again. To actually learn what weakness an enemy have, be it a specific spot, or elemental damage. Soundtrack is a hit just like the previous game, and the visuals are on par to most games, character creation is amongst the best any game can offer you. Main story isn't that big, can go through it fairly quickly, but if you're willing to actually explore and talk to npcs, you can stumble upon some fun story content. So there are things to entertain you. The game never was pay to win, was just idiotic nonsense, at most it was just pay for some luxury, that you could just as easily get within the game, was just a matter of how lazy you were, and willing to pay for an item or currency, instead of working for it. Only problem I have had over the years with the game, is the menu being not correct, with weird overlay visual bug, that is easily fixed by changing resolution. And game crashing, which was caused my graphics settings, once I looked up, that problem ran away, so do check online for a solution for you if it happens. Other than that, Dragons Dogma 2 is easily a 8/10 game, that respects your time, by making it feel rewarding to learn the game mechanics on fights, and exploring with npcs.
This game is great in a lot of ways, but ultimately, its flawed storytelling is why I can’t recommend it. All of the quests require you to do things in very specific ways, ways that don’t really make a lot of sense. Other games would allow for multiple solutions, but with DD2 it’s like the designer said, “here’s the one way I think each quest should be done, let’s ignore everything else.” Add to that, that most if all the good parts you have to stumble on… Add to that, that it’s really easy to ruin a run accidentally… And the world feels “dead” most of the NPCs are just background. Sure, they say a few lines but they don’t ever really do anything. It’s not that the game is hard, it’s not. It’s that every quest requires such specific actions. You will not have a satisfying walkthrough unless you use guides because then you’ll miss everything… but using guides, it feels like you’re acting out a script for the pleasure of the game designer. It should be their job to entertain you not the other way around. My advice for the studio: Before your next release, every member of the design team must watch a family member playthrough the game… BUT you’re not allowed to give them ANY hints or advice. Besides that, the engine is fine, the combat is lively, and the graphics are just below top-notch. This should be a fantastic game… just the way the storyline is so forced, it’s not fun.
Honestly runs pretty good
Excellent game that doesn't hold your hand. Figure it out or look it up.
If your going to buy a game just wait for dragons dogma 2 dark arisen, because the amount of pettiness that they did to dragons dogma 2 after the first dark arisen game is truly petty, do understand the game is not bad but all it really is, Is just a reskin of the first dragons dogma, they did the exact same thing back then that they did now, the endgame for dd2 is literally just as bad as dd1 yet you have to wait for DA just to have a solid endgame or even for it to be fun to even play, so yea just wait till october, if you cant then by all means go for it but for me i should have waited it out. if they even bother for a Dragons Dogma 3 just know i wont be buying there crap till the 3rd Dark Arisen.
ウザいし、ケーム性最悪
With its many quirks and problems (design wise), I still love this game. Maybe just a guilty pleasure, but it has plenty of strengths and charms.
20 hours in as of now and it's a solid 7/10* ( 2 years waiting for the fixes + removal of DRM [ main reason I waited 2 years to buy the game ] ). Combat is fun and changing vocations to experiment with different playstyles paired with exploring the map without any guides or external sources of information is an amazing experience, the community pawns helping point out POIs is really nice. Game runs reasonably well and mostly free of bugs ( small stutters while running in open areas and NPCs still load just a few feet away from the player inside cities - 2 Saurians spawned at the center of Vernworth but that only happened once and it was pretty funny so I guess I can let that one slide ). Will keep an eye out on the DRM situation since Capcom added Enigma to other games after removing Denuvo ( changing a product to a state in which a consumer would have avoided the purchase is a pretty important part of consumer right here in Brazil so I am making it as public as I can - I only purchased the game due to the removal of DRM ). Edit: * - 7/10 is good almost great - one more big patch to fix those minor stutter and increase NPC "draw distance" and it's a 8/10 ( that to me is 1 point short of games such as Witcher 3, HiFi Rush, Baldur's Gate 3). Good on you Capcom ( thou it would've been better to release the game as it is right now in the first place ).
