While I prefer other Dragon Ball games for their fighting systems, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot definitely is the best way to experience the story. The storymode is (mostly) very faithful to the manga (and anime) and has some insane, beautiful cinematics. The combat system is a little simple, and there is some bloat in the game with repetitive encounters, but still definitely worth it if you want to re-experience the story in a great, interactive way.
Please include dragon ball super series. and please add Jiren series also. We love galaxy tournament
In my opinion DBZ Kakarot is a very good anime representation and I recommend it to everyone who is either a fan or wants to get familiar with Dragon Ball. Game looks great, soundtrack is peak anime. DBZ Kakarot is well optimized and I never encountered any noticeable bugs. I won't talk too much about story but it gives VERY similar vibes to anime (main game focuses on the original Dragon Ball Z starting at radditz saga and ending at buu, DLCs expand on additional content, movies special episodes etc.). In terms of combat it's real time JRPG like in FFVII Remake but DBZ Kakarot feels way better to play. There is no character switching in combat but there are companions that assist in battles and player can make them use their abilites. Allies also act better on their own and are way more useful compared to FFVII. Movement is very fluid but DBZ Kakarot isn't really a strategic game and more of an action RPG. Building character is mostly just unlocking new abilities (choosing ones that feel good to use) and leveling up. I would also love if there was more strategy involving transformation because they don't really feel as impactful. Transformation do change acttack chain patterns but that's all, a stat boost with slowly depleting KI gauge (I do like kaioken implementation for example but it becomes obsolete like in anime after namek saga). Exploration and side content isn't interesting and it mostly consists of quick fetch quests and easy battles. Side quests don't have voice acting and leveling characters up/unlocking abilities is dependent on collecting orbs around map (or getting them from quests/fights). Game is currently cheap but DLCs are still very expensive and there are a lot of them. Trunks, end of Z and 23rd World Tournament DLCs are 10/10 in my opinion and definitely worth it (I still haven't played the DAIMA DLC). DBZ Kakarot is for me a great 9/10 game but it lacks in meaningful side content. As a Dragon Ball fan I probably enjoyed the side content a lot more than some who is new to DB would because of the references.
cha la head cha la!!!
They somehow added in bugs post launch that can cause your game to crash during cutscenes, dialogue, and when exiting the skill tree. I wouldn't recommend this until they fix those. Aside from that, the unskippable dialogue, and the main and side quests everywhere that are either just talking to people or collecting things massively lowers the replay value.
