Too pared down for me. Dragon Age used to have grit in the world, storytelling, and systems. That's absent in this entry.
Is Veilguard a good game; It is actually half decent. Is it a good Dragon Age game; Trash would call it trash. The game has a lot of decently done aspects, but this is in no way even a decent Dragon Age game. Far less grimdark and borderline jolly. Butchered characters, terrible choice options for your character when it comes to story and dialogue. A lot of new characters feel forced with clear political agendas with extremely poor execution. The cream of the crop is how they decided to end the story and how they introduce a new villain which makes everything you did in the previous games feel wrong and void, and not in a good way. On a potato scale, this is a proud 3/10 Poisonous potato barely fried enough to make it edible, not good tasting, just edible. Spices and salt not included.
This game was a total ride in a lot of disappointing ways. But we can start with the good stuff first! Combat was fun. It was cool to have a melee caster class. Game looked good! Some of the voice actors were phenomenal. Some of the levels were super cool and immersive, big fan of Treviso. Okay, I think that's about it for the pros! MAN this game BLOWS CHUNKS as a successor to DA:I. I just finished another play through of DA:I and decided to pick this up on a huge discount. One hour in and I had no clue who I am, where I came from, how I got in contact with one of the protagonists who set the entire game in motion. And, sorry to say, you NEVER find that out. Hardly any tie-ins to any of the previous games. One of the NPCs from DA:I ends up being one of your companions and in DA:V she's... so... not herself. They completely baby-fied her. Her mannerisms were completely different, it's like she didn't exist in the previous game?! Dragon Age is dark, and brutal, and sad, and mysterious - there is none of that in here. It's a game made for kids. Everyone is too affable and charming and everyone forgives each other for the choices you make - and the choices you make seem to have little baring on the story save the LAST MISSION. This game is too bright all the time, everyone is weirdly short, the banter is awkward, the relationships with your companions develop too fast while the game feels like a slog. I have what, 28 hours, I crammed this game to the end just so I could file it away and never play it again. It's sad. EA potentially ended this lore-rich, expansive world. Just totally bombed the franchise. Let this one collect digital dust.
Horrible. I regret buying this game. I gave this game a chance but it disappointed me spectacularly to the point I went back to playing DAO. Pros - Nothing Cons - Complete discontinuity from Dragon Age 1, Awakening, Dragon Age 2. - Poorly written characters. - No depth of personality. - Dialogue choices don't matter. - Too upbeat for the Dragon Age universe. - Too bright, colorful, and 'happy' - Dangers don't even feel dangerous anymore. - Forgettable companions. - Best characters have all been given short roles (Varric, Morrigan, etc.) - Hero of Ferelden is missing - Leliana is missing - Hero of Kirkwall is missing - Alistair is missing - No party tactics - Villains are forgettable. Loghain from DAO was FAR better. - No real plot. - Feels unfinished, rushed, incomplete. For whatever reason, BioWare cast out all the truly impactful characters from previous games and put together a new, shallow, NPC-like bunch of companions. Also, they went a bit too hard on diversity with this one.
sucks
Solas is an interesting character. Game looks beautiful. Gameplay is repetitive and bland. Gear and skills barely matter. Story wildly swings between trying to be serious and doing MCU quirk chungus dialogue. The result sucks.
Денег хватило только на анимацию волос и пейзажи. Но все остальное, тот еще отборный калл, тут даже не в повестке дело. Ощущение как будто я сюжет из Твиттера вычитал
Just play DA: Inquisition. In many ways (hell, even LGBT+ representation) it does what this game tries to do but better. The world of Dragon Age went from dark fantasy to Disney fantasy. All of the gritty and morally complex elements present in the previous games has been replaced by whatever writers are doing after the MCU took off. Maybe as a standalone game this would have been alright, but slapping the "Dragon Age" name on this game is like Mitsubishi bringing back the Eclipse as an SUV. Just let it die. The only thing this has going for it over DA:I is the environmental design. This game is downright beautiful (so long as you don't look at the character models).
this game give me weird gay vibe so I quit it. Not recommend for adult gamer
Pros: Vaulting, visuals are good, combat is decent. Cons: Everything else. Real life politics (pronouns, identity, LGBT, etc.), unlikeable characters, shallow conversation, poor writing, poor story telling, the acting feels forced and has poor flow. You can feel the blue haired dev team looking down on you and sneering as you play the game. They decimated player agency and control of the story, there is no real choice like in the other games. This is the Mass Effect Andromeda of the Dragon Age series. Its one those games you complete 4 or 5 times then never touch it again. Buy it on discount so you arent wasting 60 USD on this horrid mockery of what Dragon Age was supposed to be. Why is it so hard for writers and dev teams to avoid ruining a franchise?
