not every game is for everyone and this game certainly has some things that I hate (Taash, obvious ideology pandering) But overall this game is super fun, combat is fun and the story and characters aren't terrible. Overall a gorgeous romp through thedas :D
Good game, good story, good combat. Just a slight downstep from Inquisition
Game is alright by itself but the story includes some forced woke-ness that you can't 100% avoid, At least I can kill the woke NPC's in BG3.
I have mixed feelings about this game. Inquisition will always be my favourite game I've ever played due to the worldbuilding, the characters, the politics, the gorgeous settings, the incredible music, the writing and everything else. I remember the Trespasser DLC moving me like no other game has (yes, I romanced Solas). So Veilguard had a lot to live up to. I think the best way to play Veilguard is to approach it as a completely different game that happens to be set in the Dragon Age universe and builds on the Solas story. In mood, aesthetics and tone, this game is very very different from DA:I. The opening 2 hours of Veilguard are incredible, and there are quite a few other great moments, but because I was so attached to Inquisition I also felt quite sceptical about the 'gameification' of Veilguard in comparison, the loss of nuance in dialogue, and missed the types of interactions with the companions that Inquisition offers, e.g. asking them questions about their cultures/backgrounds. Which is why it helps to approach this game as an almost completely separate one from Inquisition. Once I achieved this mindset, having taken a one-year break because my PC broke, I enjoyed it so much more and came to really value the companions and enjoy the gorgeous settings. The ending sequence (facing off the main antagonists) was really great too, bringing to mind Mass Effect 2 but with a distinct Dragon Age feel. The conversation with Solas at the end really moved me and did the romance in Inquisition justice, a difficult feat to achieve, with the soundtrack echoing the Inquisition romance theme and Trespasser theme building on these emotions. If you romanced Solas and want to get closure, this game might give you that, as well as lots of enjoyable hours in beautiful settings, with heartfelt characters.

I don't understand the hate this game has gotten at all. The two scenes I ignored didn't change my experience of the game in any way. I enjoyed the game just as much as I enjoyed Inquisition before. Howgh.
fun game
