About
At its heart, this is a personal passion project. I've poured my creativity and effort into every system of this tactical space shooter, building a solid foundation for a vast journey. Rather than listing distant promises, I’m committed to delivering meaningful, frequent updates that steadily expand the universe. The foundation is strong, and the future is bright - No rush. No compromises. Step by step.

Pilot your customizable combat ship in an open, seamless arena. Your goal is simple: survive, adapt, and outlast.
But the longer you stay in the sector, the more intense the pressure becomes. Enemies arrive faster and grow more dangerous.
The Threat Level is the heart of the experience. It controls enemy aggression, the scale of reinforcements, and directly drives the dynamic soundtrack that escalates with combat intensity (music by Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio).
This is a fast-paced symphony of destruction where you are always outnumbered. Survival demands constant motion, sharp evasion, and smart arsenal management.
Armor is a Puzzle: Every enemy has an armor level. Match your weapon's penetration to the target, or watch your shots ricochet in a spectacular—but wasteful—light show.
Adapt or Be Overwhelmed: Choose between your Plasma Blaster, Autocannon or Lasercutter, and switch ammo types on the fly. Spam Smart Rockets into crowds, break locks with Flares, or use Energy Shield to deflect projectiles.
Fire Control System provides a target lead indicator and armor readout—use it to make every shot count.
The core gameplay is implemented and highly replayable. The current version includes:
A massive 10×10 sector arena with no loading screens
Skill-based combat featuring armor penetration and ricochets
A dynamic Threat Level system that makes the world react to your actions
Flexible ship customization: primary and secondary weapons, defensive systems
Varied enemies: fast interceptors, heavily armored units, missile platforms, and suicide drones
Environmental hazards: damaging gas clouds that disable modules and chaotic wormholes
Player progression: experience, levels, and stat upgrades
A store for repairs, fuel, ammunition, and a firing range to test new weapons

As a lifelong gamer, I built Don’t PANIC! with the same passion I feel when diving into my favourite titles. It’s not just my project — it’s my contribution to the community I’m part of. I hope you’ll feel that joy in every bullet‑hell moment and tactical decision you make.

Great foundation for a Hotline Miami-in‑space experience. The controls are tight, the action is frantic, and the aesthetic is spot‑on. It’s a lot of fun to play, but the amount of content is currently on the smaller side - typical for early access. If you’re okay with that and want to support development, it’s definitely worth picking up now.
*Sighs* It pains me to leave a brand new indie developer a negative review for a game that genuinely looks like he put a lot of work into. I get that it's "early access" but that is NO EXCUSE for launching a game that boots up blowing my ear drums out, obviously defaulting to MAXIMUM VOLUME with NO WAY TO ADJUST THE SETTINGS. Not only that, but the screen is 1/4 of my monitor size and I pressed every button hoping it would be a "full screen/windowed" key, but no such option exists here. Let's also say that these new indie devs continue to just DROP THE BALL with these top down space shooters. In my opinion, the only "proper" way to do a space shooter correctly is use W to move forward in what ever direction you face and A & D to rotate your ship. But soooooo many of these indie devs make these space top down games with "noob dev" controls as in W moves Up, A moves left, D moves right and S moves down. THIS IS A SPACE SHOOTER, NOT A TOP DOWN RPG!! You're not controlling a naked dude running around a town, you're in f'ing space you dwit! IDK, I almost always hate these stupid overly simply controls for a space shooter. This game mostly gets a negative review however for the indie dev offering NO SETTINGS and blowing my ear drums out with a super small window that I also can't expand to fit my monitor. THIS IS A LESSON TO YOU DEV. NEVER LAUNCH A GAME WITH NO SETTINGS. PERIOD. Early Access is NO excuse for being this naive to game development. Surely you've played a freaking game yourself before haven't you? Ugh. Fix your game, as in at least give us proper settings for your silly little game and I'll see if I can give you a re-review. NOT RECOMMENDED. "Noob Dev Failure" here on his launch day. Let's see if he attacks me or does the "proper" thing and just fixes his damn game.
Lots of potential for a semi-realistic bullet hell in space. Unexpectedly great soundtrack and overall sound design, this game has a knack for attention to small details. The bad news is, it really needs more content.
I started playing this game even before it was released on Steam :) But anyway. The game has grown better with dynamic battles accompanied by equally dynamic music. I like it, because it takes me back to my childhood, when I spent many hours playing similar games.
