I really enjoyed “SC2VN”, and truthfully I wanted a sequel to that story rather than a prequel. However the origin story of some of the characters from the original is still worth your time. The art is still charming, and the loving nostalgia for the era it is set in, is tempered by admirable frankness about the harshness of the economics of trying to turn a hobby into a job. It also provides a glimpse to this foreigner into the social realities of Korean life, and the huge pressure put onto teenagers to succeed overwhelmingly at very young ages. I'd be lying if I said I enjoyed it as much as the first one. It's much longer, with many more characters, and the dialogue drags on a little at times. I didn't really see the point of the mini-games that have been added, as they don't change the story and you can't actually fail them. But as a visual novel, was still compelling enough for me to want to see it through to the end, and I respect them writers for not forcing a clunky and awkward love story between the two principle characters. Please give us a sequel to SC2VN next.
Fun, interesting meditation on esports from the perspective of players. If you're currently competing in anything or did in the past, the intense feelings that arise from putting yourself on the line will be easy to feel in the characters. If you don't know anything about Starcraft (I didn't!), you might feel a little lost in the terminology occasionally, but it's insightful from a Fighting Game player's perspective to get a feeling for what skills must be honed in a completely different genre.
Before I played Don't Forget Our Esports Dream, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
Nice sequel to the first game.
