Note: Dead PvP game This game contains no meaningful single player content. There's no viably populated servers/active player population. This game cannot be played as intended.
This creatively bankrupt joke game is the result of the developer stealing a bunch of public domain meme assets and dumping them on a basic Unreal brawler game blueprint. There's no players because it's garbage, it's an unoptimised mess, assembled quickly to rush a joke onto Steam Direct and somehow "go viral" and make the developer famous off the back of other people's internet memes. So, "DogeFight" is a dead PvP game. Why did it fail? It's video game autopsy time! Almost every PvP exclusive game on Steam fails. Only a tiny proportion of them "go viral". This game failed for many of the same reasons those others fail. The chief of which is the developer thinking that their game will "go viral" without actually creating any reason for it do so. Competition amongst PvP centric games is extreme, and there's only a finite player base to appeal to. This game failed to reach any kind of critical mass and died as a result. Let's go into some of the reasons this particular game failed to appeal to gamers, despite the zero up front cost. First and foremost, there's no meaningful single player content. The developer gambled that other players would be an acceptable substitute for adding storytelling, level design etc to the Game. They lost that bet. Without a huge community of players or single player content to add a lasting value to the game, the game dies. Developers must learn that other players are not an acceptable substitute for adding content to a game. The assets look a little mismatched but they're also much higher quality than the actual game. It's a bit of a red flag for an asset flip, but there's no evidence or smoking gun in this case. While there's no proof, the overall low quality of the actual "game" part (an important part of the whole package that makes up a game) is indistinguishable from an asset flip, and no matter where the assets came from, the quality here is bad. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's well over 130 million gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at less than 100 concurrent players, they couldn't even break three figures, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. All other issues aside (any of which would disqualify this from being worth your time), this is a game that relies on other players for it to be viable, and because there's not enough players, it's not viable. I can't recommend anyone downloads this, it's basically dead. Note: Joke reviews Because this is more of a "joke" game, intended to draw attention from controversy or in the hopes of going viral because it's "so bad it's good" (but it isn't good at all), there's nothing here to offer to serious gamers. As usual, with most awful/joke games, all the comedians come out of the woodwork. The vast majority of the reviews for this game are joke reviews, mocking the game for just how bad it is. The comedians give us the usual "this game cured my cancer, saved my marriage, changed my life" story... sarcastic, but not useful if you want to know if the game is worth it. Because most of the reviews are as insincere as the game itself is, the positive review score for this game should not be considered an accurate representation of the quality of the game.
