The controls, or lack of, is a huge letdown. Trying to figure out the cancel/back button in the title menu to change the sound settings is horrendous, I pressed every single button and couldn't exit that screen. Not only that, the title screen music stayed blaring at 100% volume, even though I turned down BGM to 10%. I got to the second fight in the starting area, and was stuck in the fighting dimension, defeated all monsters but was trapped in there, most likely a glitch. Will come back to the game once controls and glitches are patched. No matter how good the game may be, if you can't play it, it's sh-
It’s not just bad, it’s boring. I haven’t finished the game yet. Maybe I will some day but I just need a break from it. While the gameplay is the best part, the game gives you five playable characters but only the first two are any good. Maybe the third one is good but I didn’t play with her much. And that wouldn’t be too much of an issue if it wasn’t for the fact that the game forces you to be the other characters for different story sections or boss fights. Like I really didn’t like playing as the white haired guy since his attacks are so slow since attack speed and multiple projectile attack were more effective and his limit break feels weak. And the encounter rate is atrociously high and fights themselves don’t seem thought out. Like you could have a fight with 5 monsters, take one step and then you’ll up against a single healer who can’t do squat. As for the story, I didn’t care for it or the characters at all. Tried reading it for a while but near the end I just started skipping everything since I was so unengaged. At least the chemistry between the lead and his love interest seems to have some cute charm to it and there was a scene with the purple girl and the evil twin that was cute. Shame he dies and she awkwardly accepts the other twin as her friend which doesn't really work. And for the presentation, almost every dungeon is just a forest which gets samey really quickly and the dark filters when you're going through the dungeons are an eyesore. Not helped when a tree branch can cover both you and the way forward. Hiding secrets with branches is fine. Not okay on the main path. Wish there were more dungeons like the volcano puzzle one.
