A broken piece of trash — I launched the game, pressed every key on the keyboard, but still couldn’t start it or test anything. The developer should’ve at least mentioned that it requires a controller.

Такое, на клаве не поиграть.
DisGo is a small party game built around a really simple idea. I am playing as one of four musical animals called Bandimals, and the main goal is to grab the golden disco ball and keep the spotlight for as long as I can. Once I have it, I become the soloist and my character starts performing while the other players chase me around the arena trying to take it away. It is a straightforward idea, but I like how quickly I can understand what I am supposed to do. There is no complicated setup before the actual fun starts. The movement is what gives the game a bit more personality. It is built around parkour and chasing, so I am jumping around the arena and trying to stay ahead of whoever is coming after me. I can also use power ups to help myself escape or steal the spotlight back. There are four different power ups, which is not a huge amount, but it gives the matches some extra moments where things can suddenly change. I like that the main objective stays simple while the movement and power ups give me enough to think about during a match. The music is probably my favourite part of the presentation. Each Bandimal has its own track, and the music changes depending on who has the spotlight. That makes the whole idea of fighting over the solo position feel more connected to the theme rather than just being a random game mechanic. The colourful cartoon style also suits it really well. The characters are simple but memorable, and the bright presentation makes the game feel like something I could pick up for a quick party session without having to take it seriously. The biggest issue for me is that there is not a huge amount of content behind the main idea. The game is very focused on one type of match, and once I understand the spotlight system there are not loads of different objectives or modes waiting for me. That is fine for a small party game, but it limits how long I can stay interested. The power ups add some variety, but I would have liked more maps, different rules or extra ways to win so that the basic chase did not start feeling too familiar. I also think the game makes much more sense when I have people sitting beside me. It supports four player local multiplayer and shared screen play, which is clearly where the concept is meant to shine. On my own, there is not much reason for me to spend a long time with it because the game is built around stealing the spotlight from other people. I like the simplicity of the local setup, and the fact that it is free to play makes it easy to have around for a quick session, but the limited amount of content means I would not treat it as a game I play constantly. I do appreciate the attention to accessibility as well. There are options for changing controls, adjusting audio and effects, using high contrast and changing other settings. That is a nice touch for a small game because it means the developers have not just focused on getting the basic party mechanic working. The game is also still in Early Access, so I think it is fair to judge it as a smaller project that has room to grow rather than expecting it to already have the amount of content I would find in a much larger party game. Overall, DisGo is a fun little party game with a good central idea and a lot of personality for such a small package. I like the spotlight mechanic, parkour movement, power ups, musical animals and especially the way the music changes around the soloist. The main thing holding it back for me is the lack of depth and variety, because there is only so much I can get from repeatedly chasing the same objective. Still, I think the core idea works and the game is at its best when I just want something quick, colourful and easy to understand. For a free Early Access game, I think it has a decent foundation, but it needs more content before I could put it much higher. Rating: 6.9/10
