Diorama Tower Defense: Tiny Kingdom (Prologue)

"Diorama Tower Defense: Tiny Kingdom (Prologue)" isn't a game, it's an advertisement for a different game called "Diorama Tower Defense: Tiny Kingdom", except that game doesn't exist. What exactly should I be telling gamers about an advertisement for a product that doesn't exist? Well, not to download it, for one. I can mention a couple more reasons not to touch this (and which explain why other gamers never touched it either). This features really godawful, lazy voxel/pixel "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating contemporary 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Minecraft succeeded [i]despite[/i] the bad graphics, not because of them. This is only free in the same way that adverts on Youtube and banner ads in your browser are. This is a game demo that's been dumped on Steam to advertise another Steam store page in the hopes of raking in some cash (except in this case, that store page doesn't even exist). Just because advertisements are free, doesn't mean they're worth your time. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.

Ehm ... no. While the intro is good and a lot of work has been going into it for how small this game is, it lacks in gameplay, entertainment and generally the right feeling. Didn't enjoy it. I even went to do something and forgot about it, then went to sleep... so it kept acculumating hours all night without playing at all :D Can't recommend a game who makes me forget about it so successfully ;)

7/10 I love the idea of a cute TD game a lot! I think that this game has potential, but there are some serious bugs that need tending to. I'm stuck on the third level (graveyard) because a bug won't allow me to place towers. It seems to happen randomly, or maybe after dragging a tower out then changing my mind and dragging it back to the toolbar. I also noticed that some levels have indicator arrows to show where enemies spawn from, and yet some don't, meaning I have to start the wave first so I know where to place my towers. ((((I would gladly change my review after seeing these changes.)))) The graphics are adorable. I do wish the enemy path was color-coded somehow though, as the angle and decor make it harder to make out. If you could also make the color-coding for the tower placement indicators a little more contrasted (maybe filling them in translucent instead of just an outline?), it would look a lot less cluttered. TL;DR Can't wait to play again when it has had more work. I point out some bugs and make some design suggestions.

Несмотря на "игрушечный" вид, игра предлагает достаточно тактические возможности. Необходимо грамотно выбирать типы башен, учитывать их радиус поражения и синергию друг с другом. Уровни проходятся довольно быстро, но заставляют задуматься над оптимальной стратегией. Однако, стоит отметить, что это всего лишь пролог, и контента пока маловато. Хотелось бы увидеть больше типов башен, врагов и разнообразных карт. Не хватает более развернутого сюжета и, возможно, каких-то уникальных способностей у игрока. В целом, 'Diorama Tower Defense: Tiny Kingdom (Prologue)' оставляет после себя хорошее впечатление и стимулирует интерес к полной версии. Это отличная игра для тех, кто ищет что-то новое и необычное в жанре Tower Defense. Визуальный стиль и продуманный геймплей делают ее достойной внимания.
