Desktop Explorer

This is a pretty fun puzzle game. The puzzles generally felt fair (with the exception that the compression tool doesn't get a very good introduction/explanation: use if it you ever need to reduce the size of something by 75%). I'm not 100% in love with the story. It's not bad but it felt like it was building to one thing and then went in a completely different direction that took a lot of agency away from the characters. Gameplay is pretty unique and interesting. I like the idea of digging through computer files and old computer programs, and it's neat how the different sections are made to match their users. There are a few minor quality of life issues like navigation in part 2 (you are frequently forced to return to the start of the area), not being able to sketch on photos (there's one puzzle that gives you a partially filled out logic grid with no way to edit it so you'll have to replicate it by hand and then complete it), and no way to transfer information between profiles other than breaking out pen and paper. But those are the exceptions and the whole game works very well overall. It's not super scary. Occasionally a weird thing will happen or a creepy picture will pop up but none of them "got me" and I'm very timid when it comes to jump scares. It's more psychological horror with occasional blood and guts to visually spice things up. There's a free demo so if you like puzzle games give this one a shot, it's worth your time.
