I have very mixed feelings about this one. On the one hand, the actual core gameplay and technical elements of Depths of Madness lie somewhere between 'leaving a lot to be desired' and 'outright abysmal'. The User Interface is poor, whilst the game itself is shockingly designed. The Player can constantly see through walls out of the level, certain doors open into
THE VOID
and the Player will be forced to reload, sometimes the Player will simply be launched across the map every which way but loose for no reason at all. But, even with all that said and the very apparent fact that the game is a shambles of composition and design, there were certain elements (few and far between though they were) that I quite liked. The audio logs were terrific, obviously not the highest quality of voice acting but solid enough, and the story they told was actually really interesting. The actual design of the monster itself was more goofy than scary, but the backstory established in the (many) logs was very enjoyable. Unfortunately, those highlights aside, I don't think I'd recommend this game in the state I played it as it was extremely flawed and poorly built. I have to wonder if it was even play-tested, by the sheer amount of times things went wrong. So yeah, the potential was definitely there with the story, it's just a shame the game around it wasn't very good.

Interesting concept, some similarities to SCP, but needs a lot of work still. Game ended for me randomly even though monster was nowhere close to me. Movement does not feel good. Like moving around a concrete block on an ice rink. But, the game is free, and gave me about a half hour of entertainment.
Ok so the game is kinda cool. I think the concept is ok, but the execution is poor. There is two major flaws. One is that sometimes the monster can just trap you. Like even if you are "hiding" it still sees you and you cant progress. Two is that there is so many ways to just die. I go so far sometimes, like with all the keys, then fell into the void for no reason. Then you have to completely restart. Plus with the game being like a maze, it make redoing what you just did, extremely annoying and tedious. Overall, don't get this game. Its not even worth the experience.
nope
"Alright! a claustrophobic underwater base with a malevolent entity stalking you, this'll be great! ...Right?" The game has you run through a big base placing bombs and finding keycards to open doors, while running from a squid-thing that farts fog, once you've placed all the bombs you have to get out fast. I'll start with the good things. The monster was a neat design...it needed a LOT of work, but was conceptually cool. Your characters run-cycle is hilarious. ...and that's it, so I'll get straight to the problems. After selecting difficulty, the game had a surprisingly long load on a black screen...I had to restart a few times due to dying/failing,but on the 4TH RESTART the black screen was replaced by a helpful tutorial on what to do in the game...i'm thinking it was supposed to be there every time...so the game immediately failed to give me it's most basic play instructions...three times. The environment is VERY unfinished, you can clip your face through anything to see what's on the other side,if you look out a window you can see the whole map...and through all of its walls, there are large gaps around doors and some other areas. In some rooms, your gravity physics seem to turn off and you get stuck in the ceiling, tho I found out that by crouching you can get back on the ground. As for how it all looks? Like generic assets, many of which don't even fit well with the theme. Once you place your first bomb, the monster shows up...somewhere...it's not overly hard to deal with considering how dumb it is....but It can be difficult to outrun if it gets too close, because of how limited your sprint stamina is...and there's no meter of any kind to show how much energy you have left. Once you've placed your final bomb you have a limited time to get to the exit...how much time? I don't know. There's no timer at all,if you're not fast enough it's game over...so where IS the exit? I don't know. I absolutely couldn't find it. I thought maybe the hatch you entered at might be the exit, but nope. At one point in my 2nd attempt I found a door that used the blue keycard, which is the 3rd card you get, that led directly out into a black part of the map where I proceeded to fall through the world....maybe that was supposed to be the exit, but I hadn't placed all my bombs yet on that attempt? Why was I allowed to go through it then? This could have been really neat, but after failing 4 times [once to my unknown stamina, once to falling out that door, and twice to the unknown timer] I decided enough was enough. This isn't a lack of polish,it's just unfinished...and If the devs didn't want to finish the game,I don't know why I should.
The best hallway simulator I've ever played !!! Love clipping through walls and textures (all textures are broken). Character is probably drunk because controlling it is the biggest challenge in the game! Also there is no stamina meter so you have to guess how long you can run away from Cthulhu from walmart ... No idea what the story is and why you have to put explosives on random walls or even why this "masterpiece" was even ever created... Play it if you wanna waste some time zooming through hallways without any reason or point. P.S. This game is harder than The Dark Souls
Buggy AF. Fell out of map in 2nd minute... Super slow, clunky. Just avoid.

2/10 I like the use of sci fi assets to showcase a setting that is supposed to be under water. Everything else is pretty sub par. The game breaks constantly, sometimes you can continue playing while other times you have to restart. I won’t call this an asset flip, but it sure isn’t good.
