An intriguing story and simple gameplay are such a good duo. Though the game was short, the beautiful music, art, and message are so worth it.
Well, this game is a whole experience. It beautifully captures the inner turmoil of war... well as close as a video game can get, which is not that close. The music is ambient and adds to the emotional nature of the game. The mental state of the protagonist changes with death, both friendly and enemy. Morale is improved with simple creature comforts. Its kind of a tear-jerker. Recommended.

Not exactly an "enjoyable" experience but certainly one that makes you reflective. While the game play isn't all that exciting, it's representative of how soldiers spend most of their time on routine tasks, particularly when you're stuck in a trench line in WWI. Shows how relatively minor comforts like food and drink keep soldiers sane. The biggest message is simply that people are more alike than different. Maybe someday soldiers will ignore their leaders and refuse to fight pointless wars. As a lighter aside, everyday in the game is written down as 1/12, 2/12 etc. I initially thought that meant that there was a total of 12 days to get through-so it was a countdown of sorts. When it hit 13/12 I was quite puzzled until I remembered that non-Americans do dates differently. I also should have realized that since this game is called "DECEMBER" 1914 what that was referring to. Oh well.
